You only get an email stating: "user_X has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled..." and I think you only get the first notification until you visit the thread again and that resets the notification flag. It's very useful when you are soliciting advice or selling something.
...AND it was in chapter 12 of "DPC for Dummies". :P |

Just getting sick of airplane shots...I want to branch out to others like landscape, macro, water photography will be nice to do...I want to do these one at a time until I master a certain topic first. At the moment what interest me is water which looks like quite easy to do... |

Welcome to dpc. The challenges here are all over the place, so concentrating on one thing until perfected is not the norm.
Do not hesitate to enter challenges - worst that can happen is your shot gets the lowest score (and there are those whose style seldom meshes with the community that typically get low votes, so you'll have competition even there).
This is a great community and a great place to learn and to improve your skills.
Hint: To branch out from airplane photos, point your camera at something other than an airplane... ;-p

Each challenge is an opportunity to learn a new technique, which can then be applied to capturing whatever subject you want.
Incidentally, if you use the logical approach to anything on DPC, you'll soon be wearing a straightjacket... |
