All of a sudden I see a bunch of emails in my Sent file with the subject HELLO and I didn't send them!
I remember looking at an email yesterday from a good friend, who sends us stuff all the time, with that subject line and like an idiot, I clicked on the link. Nothing happened then but today I see that my address book is hacked.
I changed my Yahoo password right away and notified everyone who appears to have received that email not to open it. Is there something else I need to do?
HELP!

Changing your password.... That should fix it.

Change your password to something using numbers, letters and symbols and then ALWAYS log off from your email after using. The hackers can use your email even when the machine is shut down.

Thanks ladies! I changed my password to a pretty long one with letters and numbers and am signing out after reading email. This happened on my husband's Facebook account too. Just in case, I also ran Malwarebytes and Avast! but nothing was found. Lesson learned - don't click on links in emails!

luckily, most email hacks are automated, so you don't get locked out of them, so you did the right thing off the bat changing the password. Changing it to a really tough one to crack was even better :)

Tell your friend that her account is most likely compromised too

change your security questions. also change your "secured" email that may be setup for emergency purposes.

Also, because of the complexity increasing with number of letters in a password being oftentimes more important, try using a password thats approximately 15+ characters, even if its simple (nonsense ofcourse) with no letters. Disclaimer, This information came to me through a knowledgeable source who i trust with such things, but i have not run tests myself.
