Because of the way the voting is designed, if you are going to comment, you probably do it before you vote.
I usually think, "Hmm, I'll give this one a [insert vote here]," but after I've taken the time to comment, I almost always find myself giving the image a higher score than I would have if I hadn't taken the time to think about the image and leave a comment.
As if we really need more reasons why we should encourage people to vote : )
Anyone else find themselves doing that?

Frequently. Taking the time to comment causes me to pause and notice things.

| Yep! I normally vote first, then come back and look again to comment. I find I bump a decent amount of images up on a regular basis. I never change my score lower though, as I think that's just mean. |

I usually make three passes.. First pass is initial impact... Second pass is re-thinking the images (I never vote an image down from the initial impact, so it can only go up...) and the 3rd pass is reserved for commenting...
Now lately, because I have a 5 month old and I'm limited on time, I vote on impression and comment on the first pass, then go back and bump up on a second pass... Its funny cause it seems like everyone has their own system

Sometimes....especially with challenges like the silhouette ...fun, scary or sexy, I tend to try and read the title before deciding on my vote. The photo may be a 6 but if the title relates a point, I'll go up to a 7.

I absolutely love it when someone has picked the most perfect title, one so great that it deserves a nice bump to the score. |

So we really need to think up a good title if we are entering the "Symbolic Still Life" challenge!
