Our (sometimes not so...) little eight legged friends!
Nobody likes them, Everybody hates them.
I for one will not go looking for one just to get a snap of it, even more so as the spiders in Oz are deadly, I would not like to look at images so as to vote and see who has the best shot, and for these reasons I think that it would be a great challenge!

This shot would have done better in a spider challenge.

I'm all over this one :)
Maybe wait a couple weeks, still a bit chilly out for them to be in abundance. |

No! Do it soon as it's getting colder here and there getting harder to find.

Well there are certainly some very photogenic spiders out there, I always capture an image of a spider in my house but that is only because I am new (ish) to Oz and need to find out what they are!
I still think this would be a great challenge, despite getting the heebie geebies just from what has been posted on here already! |

I think it is a great idea. Kind of surprising that it hasn't been done yet.
People who can't handle it can stay away ;-)
Funny thing is, I HATE SPIDERS...unless I am photographing them, and then somehow I am in control and therefore ok with them.
But if I see a spider in my house I will scream :-P |

If I came across a spider that big, I would faint! |

These Argiopes are quite colorful and wicked looking, but they are not harmful to humans.

I'd be up for this one although there aren't as many around this time of the year. |

I read somewhere that in the US you are always within 3 feet of a spider any time of your life. |

I seem to remember that in this interview the author of the recent book Wicked Bugs said that there were something like five quintillion "bugs" on the Earth right now.
Too bad, it looks like migration season isn't until the Fall ... :-( |

I remember my teacher telling me that on average we swallow 3 spiders a year in our sleep! |

I am pretty sure that is actually just a myth.
Then again, not everything we hear is true, so my hearing it is a myth is just as likely to be false as you hearing that this is what happens. |
