When I look at the recent moon challenge entries and then look at your DQ... it doesn't make immediate sense to me, but it does make me want to error on the side of caution.

Anyway, the first Visual Puns challenge was in 2005 before I discovered DPC. I'd like to enter this one.

Please help me out a bit here...

Am I right in thinking that a metaphor can be interpreted as a visual pun?

My relatively limited understanding of vocabulary leaves me at a loss when it comes to these things. This is a challenge for images portraying cliche's, phrases, sayings?

Have I got completely the wrong end of the stick, or could that be an entry?

I think I have just answered my own question!

I had to go take a look at that...sometimes DQ's just don't make sense to me. IF the "fire" in the eyes was an image taken by you, and you used it as a texture, then I am honestly baffled as to the DQ. That would be clearly within the ruleset.

I have an idea, now I just need the bandwidth.

I think the problem was that he used a computer generated fire...

The fire was someone else's image taken off Google. You can edit your photos like crazy in Expert, but they do have to be your photos.

I have a friend at work we call Jughead. He drives one of the trucks. His customers call him Jughead. He likes it and it has been his nickname for over 20 years at the company. He is bald and his head and face are HUGE !.

I was trying to work out a shot of him with his head busting through the "frame" (expert editing) but could never get it right.
The title was going to be "Osama Big Noggin". Oh well....I know I would have gotten a 5+ for it ! LOL.

Can a simple photo have a chance in this one?
04/21/2011 11:49:12 PM · #22
Im really looking forward to this one. Mine is far from simple. simple minded perhaps, but complicated to do.
04/21/2011 11:51:04 PM · #23
Mine is simple but had to use all rules available to pull it off. It felt strange editing a photo..."against the rules" !

I always look at my photo after uploading and have such high hopes...by high hopes, I mean 5.5+ . This entry is no different. It should not land anywhere near the below 5 range !!!!! LOL....
