This does not make sense. It appears you are denying, but acknowlegding, the presence of a uniquely special photograph. |
That's there is what imagination is. If she took this photo with "Full auto" mode, so we could see everything clearly... that would be an everyday shot. However, she didn't want to see that, she wanted to see something else... and tried her ways to do it. When I said "Nothing special" I meant the environment and the subjects. |

It is not just the blur of the skiers that makes this photo - also the composition, the negative space, the colors. |

Is this Fine Art, if so, why? or if not, why?
I took this photo today, while looking for my "Lucky 13". |

How much fine art do you see with corny typeface signatures?
Nice textures, though. |

Every once in awhile I get fine art by accident.
I have no idea how to do it on purpose, though. |

for some of us, art is the pursuit of accidents. |

I'd really like to have a crack at this one but the problem is I'm not really sure what qualifies as "contemporary photographic art".
Any good websites with examples?

For what it's worth, here's a gallery that specializes in Contemporary Art Photography: //www.contemporaryworks.net/index.php
Click on "Artists" to access their galleries. Note what a wide range of styles is represented. Some of the artists I love, some seem pretty limited to me; and that's the state of contemporary art in a nutshell :-)

Well... it's up in the air for grab. I have high hopes for this one, not to win a ribbon, but at least 6+... that means i will be mingling around upper 4s and lower 5s :-\ |

I don't have any false hopes -- well -- I do hope I won't get slammed too hard. :)
But it was definitely fun and worthwhile trying. |

Just entered.....with full cognizance of the fact that I have no idea what fine art is.
This should be fun...will consider anything above 5.xxx to be a success! |

Thanks for the link Bear but I'm a lost cause. I'm just having a lot trouble defining Contemporary Art in my own head. lol
I'm out but good luck to all who are submitting.

I made last minute substitution, probably totally wrong. But then I do not call myself an artist! Not even a photographer.. My husband hates my entry. Oh, well, maybe another Brown coming along.
(I'd better get a life outside DPC!! ;) |

Sounds like me. I'll be battling for brown, methinks. My wife didn't like any of my choices, but she only hated one. I might use that one for the free study ;) |

It's clear from perusing the entries that "fine art" was a confusing name. The challenge should have been called Contemporary Art Photography. Maybe imperfect, but at least closer to the mark. |

I did find that confusing myself. The title was Fine Art, but the description was contribute to contemporary art. In my naive mind, the two concepts are not necessarily equivalent. SO, on voting I've kept this in mind and tried to be more open-minded with the submissions. |
