My photo looks SO different when uploaded to the site. It looks blurry, but it's nice and crisp and clear on my computer. Boooo....is that normal?? :(

Did you do any sharpening after you resized?

For your second shot, that's a very nice score. What's important is trying to improve. And look how much you've increased since your 1st challenge. :)

When I first started, I pretty much ignored everyone's scores but mine. Then each challenge, I tried to beat my overall average. Success was when I was around my average or better.

Yeah, you're right Wendy. Ok, I'll just concentrate on my own score.

I think I did sharpening and all of that before I resized the image. Should I resize first?

I have NO idea what I'm doing when it comes to editing. I just downloaded some free program a couple of days ago and just played around with it. I just learned about the "unsharpen mask" feature, which it seems is almost mandatory to use on the final product? Looks like everyone uses it.

Hmmmm, Wendy...I've never resharpened after resizing. Never even considered the fact that resizing would affect sharpness!

I need to look into this more and see what difference it makes in future!

Bummed with my score, looks like straight 5s with the occasional 6 and the more often than not 4. Sitting at 5.07

Here's a tutorial on getting ready for the web. resizing tutorial

Notice that it's a tad out of date. It says to resize to 640 pixels. That was changed awhile ago and now you can resize to 800 pixels. I always sharpen after resizing, though I haven't done the color profile that it was talking about. (I should probably look into that some day.)

In response to Kichu's question: Most of the time I actually do some sharpening before resize and also after. However, But I'm not printing most of these pictures. If I was doing it to print, I wouldn't do the sharpening until I actually printed.
