ever.

According to my statistically favourite photos.

That's in 32,769 votes.

I knew I didn't give out many 10's, but wow. Maybe I'm being too critical. I just think a 10 means it can't be any better.

How many 10's do you give out?

Is this stuff charted for everyone or did you break those numbers down yourself?
01/05/2011 06:16:02 PM · #5
it is charted for everyone... go to 'my favourites' under 'my home' and you should be able to find it...

It took some digging, but if you go into your profile, click on "view all" next to your favorites on the left hand side of the screen, then click on "manage your favorites" and THEN click on "view statistically favorite photographs", you'll get to where you need to go :D

ETA: Oh man, I forgot about "my favorites" under "My Home". That avoids my first two steps. lol.

Depends on how many 1's you've given out : ). A lot of people don't give out 10's because it implies that a picture is perfect, which some believe isn't possible.

thanks K10 you saved me some typing!

Apparently, I'm even stingier with 10s. I've given only 11 in 191,247 votes. That really doesn't surprise me, a shot has to really connect with me emotionally and be technically near-perfect to earn that level.

That's about how I vote. I've given 29 10s, which is 8.33% of my votes. Those are for purely subjective, emotional reasons, but usually I don't go above a 9. I need to check, but I don't think I've ever given a one.

ETA: Can't find the one votes info. I'm pretty sure I haven't voted a 1.

I've given fifteen 10s, in a relatively small amount of voting. However, I don't use the number system like some do (where 1 is basically can do no worse, and 10 is perfection). I use the number system as a measure of feeling, emotion, and a measure of personal justice :D I give 10s sometimes just because I think it's probably getting massacred in voting and I think it's a clever photo. I'll also just give 10s to something I simply really like. Same with 1s, on an opposite side of the scale. Well, not FULLY opposite, because I don't give 1s to photos that I think are being scored really high, not in and of itself. I also have to REALLY dislike the photo.

Anyway, I ramble. Since there's no such thing as perfection, and there's no such thing as complete failure, using the voting numbers to denote such is futile.

ETA: Also, I haven't voted in a very long while either, so I guess it's all moot.

i don't give out 1's... unless it's completely horrible. i can't remember the last time i gave out anything less than a 3... and that's a rarity too.

I give out 10's to my absolute favorite 3 images in a challenge. But sometimes I may only give out one 10.
01/05/2011 06:31:39 PM · #18
100, but I think there are more than that. I think that's all the one page shows. Maybe I've been too generous.

My general policy is to score each challenge in a normal distribution, with a few "9" and "10" votes and a few "1" and "2" votes. The normal distribution curve for the rest of the challenge. Works for me! This helps determine challenge placement, vs. the member who votes all "4", "5", or "6" votes.

To each their own. When I was voting, I can guarantee that certain things got a 1 no matter what. Like wine glasses. shrug

sorry to be a math geek but i see you've cast 24,157 votes... so if you've given out 29 10's, that's only 0.12 %

I've given out 110 tens in a little less than 2 years.

I give tens to photos that I enjoy immensely. I doesn't matter if they could be better, it what really hits home with me.
01/05/2011 06:41:10 PM · #23
I'm breaking the stupidometer today. How did you count 110 10s? I only see one page and don't see an option to go through them all.
01/05/2011 06:43:06 PM · #24
since there's only 12, here's my '10' photos:

a lot of the 10's are from early in my membership and while they're good photos, some of them i would probably not give a 10 to if i was voting on them now.

Looks like 100 max on that page...all 10's for me. And, I don't fave every 10, so something isn't right, at least for me.
