Yes, but don't you wish they were! This place would be soooo different. |

Whoaa, luckily i asked, i thought you could as the challenge stated Whether it be coloration / processing, so I thought this would, allow layers.
Can anyone post on here a sample of what would be considered legal, please.

hey neat ..
most definitely do not accept another photograph used as an overlay/texture in either basic or advanced edit challenges ..
check out the rules ..
BASIC- You must create your entry from a single capture.
ADVANCED - You must create your entry from 1-10 captures of a single scene (defined as a scene whose composition/framing does not change). All captures used must be shot within the challenge submission dates.

Roz I have read the rules, but somehow in my crazy reasoning I thought that you could for this challenge, anyway I've deleted my entry and added a new one. |

vintage .. a texture would be the perfect 'tool' .. oh well .. rules change and someday we might be able to use a texture in a real challenge .. in the meantime thank goodness for our wonderful side challenges .. we can texture to our hearts content .. :)

I'm with Ursula - fall is such a beautiful time when all is quiet and peaceful in the woodlands - except for a few rogue gnomes . .

Don't forget that you can use "found" filters. As long as the filter is part of the image that you capture, like a dusty window, or a screen door. It's just adding a layer over it that isn't legal.
Or at least that is how I understand it... |

We can use texture layers under "Expert Editing" but you have to create the texture layer that week by just using a single image. But those challenges are few and far between, although a bit more often recently. |

Can't you do what some do, where they make a picture and either print it or put it on the monitor, and then take a picture of that adding something else (like a screen or whatever). I suppose if you did it carefully you could almost replicate working with textures. If I understand those site rules correctly, that base picture doesn't have to be from the week of the challenge. Not my cup of tea though.

A few days ago I posted Promanade which I was not happy with. Taking some of your advice from critiques and then reworking to something I liked more, I came up with this:
Wayfarer
Played a bit more and added a 'Fantastical' or Surreal spin to it to create:
Downpour
