I had fun the last time we did this for a SC, so please add me to the list. I'm kinda busy, but I'll submit when I can if that's OK. Thanks.

ETA: Can't let Robert (Bear_Music) be the only one around the house having fun with this ...

Is it too early to start? Oh wait, I never did stop. I did the standard flip'n'blend & then after I flattened it I added a Distortion layer to Spherize it & blended it on Screen. I don't get as much time for this as I would like. This thread better take off pretty soon, I'm anxious to begin!

Since Halloween is on my mind, and since it's my birthday tomorrow and that gives me license to indulge myself, here's a flip-n-blend with a seasonal flavor. Image was made by taking a square crop of some leaves and making a montage of 4 versions, flipped horizontally and vertically to create a symmetrical, square image, then the combined image was rotated 90 degrees and blended.

So I have been playing around with this today.

Here is the photo in a square crop


I really like the full image except for that hard line you see running down both sides


I have tried to get rid of it but can't do it. Anyone have any ideas how to blend that hard line in with the rest of the photo?

I think Robert ( Bear_Music) had a solution to that in the last SC. Check out the thread linked in the first post.

Thanks for the reply cpanaioti. I tried what he posted. Still can't get rid of the line. Think it because it mostly changes from black to white at the line so no matter what I do it is there.

These are the lines Bear_Music was talking about, I think. The strong vertical & horizontal lines in black in this image. I don't mind 'em, butsome people do.You could probably get rid of yours by slightly fealthering & then erasing the edge. I have the same lines you object to, in my image, but (again) I don't mind 'em.

Thanks. I am going to have to spend some time to see if I can get rid of them and make it look good. If not, I will just live with them.

Here are a couple more early ones, the first a picture of a power substation and the second a truckload of garlic ... I'm experimenting more with the rectangular shape and without the "traditional" final 90° rotation.

I have found that I like that a lot better. The one I posted and asked the question of is a combination. I liked the center before the 90 but the outside of the circle after. So I erased the center before I merged the layers.

I'm game this time. Saw the last SC on this and thought it was pretty cool, but never gave it a try back then.

Well I must admit I love the wretched excess of color I get with these. Never knew it until this PP revealed how I seem to select comps with a lot of detail. The sad thing is how much I loose when I save for web. I cropped this one down to just the center, but still...

One of the things I like to do is auto-correct for tone, contrast, & color every time I flatten, to brighten it up a bit. I like bright colors. But sometimes a white bg is fun. This one is me showing some restraint in the bright color.

You're welcome. When I pick up again on these in November I will try to remember to list the various edits, blend modes and such as well.

Those are really nice variations! Sorry I don't have time to comment more right now, but I like the spirals and the asymmetry ...
