2 versions of a rather unattractive photo of a tiny maple tree in the early stages of training for Bonsai:

I thought of another use for these -- I think they'd make a great set of "source tiles" to use with mosaic-building software, especially if there were a lot available at a standard (e.g. 720 x 720) size.

I stopped after the first horizontal flip, because I liked it so much.

My gosh, you're so right. I'll have to rename it.

When I open an image to play with -
sometimes it is easy to stop after one pass. Hit delete and move on.
Sometimes there is so much in there it's not so easy to stop.

I'll never forget my first. Despite its flaws.

Edit to add another. I can certainly see how this can get addicting.

I added one extra step: rotate 180 degrees with color dodge blending mode.

I wish I had a creative answer for what I did to the one image to get the light tones, but after a flip I said what the heck, let's invert it. And that's it. Reminds me of a pattern from the southwest with the colors and tones.

A new edit of the same Roses I used on November 1:

I'm really struggling for time to comment right now. Just want to say there is some really inspiring work here. I've tried using some of the other techniques people are working with, but so far I can't seem to get those right. It's a great challenge to keep trying.

Yes, it would make a nice Southwestern throw rug.

All came from the one original, using flip /n blend, but with varying degrees (no pun intended) of spiraling applied first.

I'm up to my elbow in alligators right now, but will get back to commenting soon.

..... and ....from

Working on some new ones, but meanwhile here is one I did during the year, from the marks left in the sand by the waves with the furthest reach before the tide turns ~ on a fantastic beach in New South Wales, Australia where we go whenever I visit my sister. ETA: .. And another I did earlier from tire marks in the snow. I kinda like the patterns and textures left on sand and snow, don't you know!!.

A bottle of mineral water found in an unlikely environment with a nice bright background didn't make a very interesting photo, but I like the way this turned out.

I can't possibly comment on just one - it's so interesting to see so many different things done with one original. They're really lovely.
