Meet my new adopted raptor:
Tumbleweed
Tumbleweed is an Eastern Screech Owl who is a permanent resident of the Carolina Raptor Center. I finally became a member of this organization and adpoted this owl.
If you feel so inclined, you can adopt a raptor of your own. I'm doing some volunteer photographic work for this group now. If you should decide to adopt a raptor, let me know and I will make photos of your bird for you at no charge. I will send you the high resolution images so you can print them yourself or get them printed.

John:
That's a great thing you're doing. It was nice chatting with you about the raptor center the other day. If I had ANY money I would certainly adopt one. Giving out photos of the birds is a brilliant way to help a worthy cause.
That's one fine looking feathered friend you adopted by the way. :) |

Congrats John - what a great thing to do and volunteering some photo work is very generous. A very exciting project indeed.
I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of Tumbleweed and it's a very touching story about how she was saved from a horrible situation. (Being hit by a car was it?)

Tumbleweed's story is as follows:
Tumbleweed, an eastern screech owl, was brought to Carolina Raptor Center February 3, 1998. She was hit by a car near Wingate, North Carolina. She suffered trauma to both of her eyes and a fracture to her left ulna. Tumbleweed's red feathers contrast with those of her friend Scout, a gray eastern screech owl that shares Tumbleweed's aviary. Young children are particularly attracted to these small owls, and they often travel to exhibits together. Tumbleweed is a permanent resident and an important part of Carolina Raptor Center's education programs.
