Is anyone addicted yet? Does anyone know of a cure for the addiction?
01/27/2010 10:03:17 PM · #452
This is the resulting image:

from the original image:

did some changes in the procedure by using exclusion vs difference. The final image was also processed with levels, brighness/contrast adjustment then cropped to make it square.

"Is anyone addicted yet? Does anyone know of a cure for the addiction?"

I'm just getting started..

Yes. No.
What do I do about it?

from

horiz flip/darker color
vert flip/lighter color
90-deg rotation/overlay
a touch of topaz for detail

I just love this one. That's a paperwhite we are letting decay in situ for photographic potential; it's getting there...

These give my brain a workout in new wonderful ways. Whee! Of course I'm totally addicted. This just happens to come along at the same time I upgraded to CS4 x64. So yep happy me!

I'd say that the only cure for this is going to be the arrival of Feb. 1.
Meanwhile, here's a shot of the moon:

I'm worried you might be lunatic if you think the mere flipping of a calendar page will stop anyone in this thread ... ;-)

Spiral rotations and scale downs applied to original instead of a flip/blend

ditto

Flip/blends applied to spiraled images

Keeping company just because they are agapanthus based.

I like all of this series but I think the earlier ones (like these) are better than the later ones. The earlier ones better preserve the textures and shapes of the original petals but these textures and shapes tend to get lost, especially in the center, as the complexity increases. I think the trend over this month has been to gravitate toward simpler results rather than the more chaotic but symmetrical color/shape patterns we were doing at the start of the month.

Here's one with a spiral which I then flipped and duplicated so it's a combination of both approaches.

This thread and process has taken on a life of its own, hasn't it.
Here are a few altered originals from me, the three "F"s: Fans, Flips and Flyaways
......

Jomari asked how I got the outer spiral on the middle one. Actually, on all of them, I selected the shape I wanted to spiral and just processed that one shape. You have to do each selection one at a time, but it's worth it to get the effect.

Thank you everyone for one of the best side challenges in my time here at DPC so far. I have learned so much & had a lot of fun doing it. This is probably my last one. Won't have time to post tomorrow anytime. So, thanks!

Thanks everyone for making this thread a huge addiction success. I hope everyone had fun and created some images that they may even hang on the wall.

One day left. ;o)

This side challenge has been so (too) much fun. I'm sure I'm going to suffer withdrawal symptoms when I finally finish up.
