They aren't going to be very hap-py, lol, 'cuz Lumix makes a KA camera! (But I have the wrong model for this challenge.)
Smells like the Toyota/Lexus debate to me!
I'm not pickin' sides.......just wanna mention I love my Lumix. Did I mention it was under $300 and came with a case? Let the shooting begin..... |

Can team members confer on their entries??? Judging by my scores lately, it seems I have trouble selecting the right shots for a free study.
PS I have no idea why I picked the Leica over the Panasonic because they really are the same camera. Different case. I am really impressed with it though.
Oh and so it looks like you don't need me anyway. Just as well.
Deb - that shot is magnifique!!! |
We do need you. Yes you can review the entries, but we should all agree not to vote on fellow members' entries for obvious reasons.

PennyStreet; are you in? We need ya to help show those Lumatix's that there really IS a difference :) |
Alright, alright. I'll give it a try.
I just hope I can live up to the expectations (I KNOW the camera can!)
And I hope the weather turns around.
Oh oh I just thought of one shot that I already have!!! okay I'm excited. |

Teams are complete!
Team Leica D-LUX 4
Trollman
salmiakki
zeuszen
PennyStreet
Team Lumix LX3
scarbrd
EstimatedEyes
Iraklis
Melethia
The scoring will be simple. We will average the scores of all the team members and the team with the highest average wins. In the unlikely event of a tie, the team with the highest individual score wins. If that is also a tie, the team that spent the least amount of money on their cameras wins. (just kidding on that last one!)
The rules are simple, too
Entry must be shot with you Leica D-LUX 4 or your Panasonic Lumix LX3, as per the team you are on.
The entries will be your team's December 2009 Free Study entries.
You can share your entry candidtes with your team members for critique and suggestions, but you must do all the post processing on your own image per DPC rules.
You may not vote on your team members' entries
I will design a badge icon that the winning team can post on their profile pages.
Get out there a shoot with your tiny little camera! And may the best team win (because we know the cameras are the same anyway!)

You need to have an entry in the December Free Study. The score you earn on that entry will be the score used to factor into your team's average.
The team's average will determine the winner of our little side challenge. The team with the highest average wins.
You have until Dec 31st to enter. Voting begins on Jan 1 and ends on Jan 7.
I will check and average thecores of the participants and announce the winning team in this thread.

Thanks a million PennyStreet. I'm very happy that you joined! The weather here in Norway has also been foggy/rainy/sanowy for the past 4-5 weeks so I hope for some sun before month end.
May the best team win! :) |

Can't you set that Leica to "Late afternoon sunshine" mode where it takes the photo and adjusts for the weather?
What did you pay all that extra money for anyway?

Bit dark and gray this time of year in Germany as well, but I'm pretty sure the Lumix has a "kick Leica butt" setting that I'm about to go shoot with.... :-) (I'm still jealous of the case. I think we need to design our own little leather case....) |

This one looks pretty nice, but it's Leica expensive.

This is what I have but I'm thinking had I been smart, I would have asked for a nice little leather case for Christmas! Maybe next year. :-) |

Hey, since dagaleaa has an interest in participating, does the Leica squad think they could come up with a fifth and we could expand the teams to 5? |

fine by me. But there are far fewer D-LUX 4 owners than LX3 folks. |

I was just going to say there are only 11 users with Leica, 5 of whom are registered users, which precludes them from entering the FS, 2 have never entered a challenge nor take part in DPC in anyway. The remaining 2 users are not very active on DPC, last challenges about 6 mths ago, so may not even see this. I think we may not be able to find another team member that easily :) |

I will watch from the sidelines....rooting for the LX3, of course! I wasn't near my computer yesterday and I did not see that I had received several private messages from several members here...thanks to all who had tried to contact me. I'm really busy with work at this moment anyway, and I have a few other things that will occupy my time. So...I will sit this one out,and watch!! Good Luck to everyone.. |

I absolutely LOVE my genuine Leica case. It's a chick magnet too... :P
Here's a picture of it on my desk just now - snapped with the Leica of course!

Yeah I saw how the women were flocking to you the other night when you showed me the camera, NOT. |

Well gosh, then I'm so glad I didn't get the Leica! As much as I like the case, I'm thinking being a chick magnet wouldn't do me a lot of good.

lol - I was only kidding of course. My wife does in fact not care for the 'old looking' brown and would have preferred the black version.
But I see your time in Germany is coming to an end. Where to now Melethia?

To the Leica folks:
If we really want to expand our team my husband also participates on DPC and I would be willing to lend him my leica so he could help us win. He goes by tvsometime.
And he's probably in the market for a lumix. |

12/10/2009 09:20:22 AM · #49 |
Well, you know, you COULD go get the black case, then send me the brown one and I'll hide my little Lumix in it.... :-)
I'm heading back to the US - will start out at my mother's place in southern California but am not sure where I will end up. Even though I do get my cushy retirement check from the military, I still need a job if I wish to have funds to support my hobbies, and I hope to eventually get a job that might bring me back to Europe for another spell. Still much to see! |

Smart guy. Or he could just get a lumix, say its a leica, and no one could tell the difference in the results. But that would be cheating, now wouldn't it. :) |
