As a kid(9 or 10), my friends and I would climb the Hetch Hetchy power line towers that passed through the orchards near my house. I can't believe a farmer or otherwise concerned citizen never busted us. They are somewhere around 110-140 feet high. Foot pegs on one corner for the first half then a ladder on the vertical portion all the way to the top where we would throw baseball cards and watch them sail away. What were we thinking? :)

something along the lines of "wouldn't it be cool to throw baseball cards off the tower and watch them fly away"?

in retrospect it probably was very cool.

In retrospect our parents would have killed us had they found out. It was also very cool. :) We would also drop into the underground water pipes when they were uncapped and drained periodically for maintanence(they were about 6' in diameter). That was much more scary.

Have you ever wondered if you threw away valuable card? When my sister was 12 she made a collage for school out of some of my dads baseball cards. For her 45th birthday party we blew up (20x30) a few of the old photos of her, including one of her holding the collage. At the party one of her husbands friends stared at the picture and said- "You know, thats a 69 Mickey Mantle card with 'Mantle' lettered in white. I just sold one of those in my shop for $2,500." He went on and pointed out that my sister's collage- had it not been a collage and been the mint condition cards- probably was worth about $10,000.

I remember these were a big hit to get in Red Alert when you played the Soviet side I think. Zapped everything that ventured near. So, by all means, give Lutchenko the one to take over the world!

Man, I think I drove by a contender shot today, but didn't have my camera. I wonder if I can go back sometime and get it again...

Hahha the soundtrack from the video is great. It almost convinced me that this job is actually relaxing.

Oh how I wish they had announced this back in Aug/Sep. We have a place called Powerline Pass - really...anyhow, around Aug and Sept the area is in abundance of wildlife there..bears, moose in full rut, ptarmigan, etc. Lots of people hike the Pass that time of year for beautiful fall colors too. Right now - nothing but a snow covered piece of ground. Oh well.

This is one of those very rare challenges where Texas has an edge over Germany. And the best place is Kuwait if you wanna see tons and tons of power lines...

What if my Powerlines shot is so good that it gets a near 7 score? Then I'd have the thing on my portfolio page for ever.
Voters, do your ususal stuff... ;-)
