Its like watching kids who got caught for stealing some trivial item that is of no tangible value. First, you gotta get them to fess up and that is tough. Getting them to return the item is the killer because it demands character.
This is a two part process. One is admitting flagrant deception, (which they proudly do), and two is making it right (from which the cower). Its really that simple to see but obviously hard to do.
I see the self absorbed prima-donna(s), but where are the mature, responsible and brave adults?
Any takers?
PS: Damn this is fun messing with people who know they are in the wrong and will kick and scream to gain alliances.

[rolls eyes] Talk about drama. Seems you're doing enough kicking and screaming for the lot of us.
No-one's trying to gain alliances. We all know what Gerry did was wrong. He knows it was wrong. He has apologised. The apology was accepted.
To pressure Gerry or anyone else into self disqualification for not meeting the challenge is absurd. |

I'm not harassing anyone!
There's no "fessing up with legit reasons" IMO. I've been out of the country for months and I took the steps from where I'm staying... that's not fessing up, that's me meeting the challenge. |
And as did I....so why should I request a self DQ...? I am not saying you were harassing...I was generalizing so as not to point fingers. Those people know who they are...I won't bring them any further attention by naming them. |
You were 47 steps from the place you were staying at the time though, right? This is fundamentally different than not being 47 steps away from any dwelling, and just throwing in a shot you love into a very specifically outlined challenge. Fundamentally. |

[Scratches ass] "We all know what Gerry did was wrong". He apologized.......wooohoooooo!
Feeling a tad complicit there beach buddy?
Go ahead, provide us with some moral guidance as we already have enough excuses. ;-)

For the record, I had no intention of entering this challenge while at the GTG. It wasn't until the next day that I decided to. |

Here he is. Are you going to follow through and be extraordinary? Set an example and withdraw your entry.
I see the beach crowd is starting to cluster.
Judi, now now. Uphold some decorum and stop showing your frustration by throwing childish insults. Focus.

Ivo....you are obviously determined to stir trouble and cause arguments. That is frowned upon by this site. So stop being childish and go home! Don't come back until you have grown up a bit.

If it were boring, you wouldn't be "rethinking what this site is really about," you'd be doing something else that's less boring. I'm enjoying the back-and-forths between Judi, Ivo, rinac, and others. |

You know what, this is what I am arguing for. I like honesty and it seems we have flushed out some culprits who feel their need to be deceptive and unaccountable is greater than the need of those who operate with honesty and some level of compliance. There are some things worth arguing over and that to me is never boring. Please change the channel and we will resume with our regularly featured program in no time at all. Thanks you for your patience. ;-) |

Rulebreakers? What rule was broken? Intentionally ignoring the challenge description isn't against the rules, even if you try to pass it off for a topic that others actually made the effort to find.
This only seems to cause a major issue on challenges with specific technical requirements, and I think we should limit those to EXIF-enforceable criteria. FWIW, the person who suggested this topic included the following note:
"Be prepared for howls of outrage on this one along the lines of "Cheater!" in the 2-second challenge. There's no way to enforce the starting point on this, let alone the "mapping" from that point. But it's a great creative exercise for those who follow it faithfully."
So true. I think we're overdue for another Minimal Challenge! |

My apologies Scalvert. I only used that term as that was what was being implied in this thread about the people who did not follow the exact steps in the challenge about. I should have reworded it.

You haven't been respectful thus far, why start now?
Everyone here has bitched about this and all it has done is fish out some half-hearted apology. We have a chance to change this and make this site a better place. This needs to be remedied and unless there is some tangible effort to show accountability, it will happen over and over again. I'll guarantee it!
There are some things worth pushing for and this is one of them. Some things need to be policed by the community as it is too cumbersome for the admins to implement this functionality. This could set a precedent that will have serious bite in the future.
Don't be part of the problem and kindly move out of the way if you feel this is a wee bit too radical for you. This is how changes are made. |

Go right ahead and take a stand Ivo, but being a smart ass isn't helping your cause any.
I would take you more seriously if you left out all the personal attacks on character. You don't know anyone here well enough to make those calls. And you certainly cannot make blanket statements about anyone's character based on one incident. |
