I know we can ignore threads - I do so when needed. But can we ignore users? In the old days, long ago, when dinosaurs ruled the earth, I think that feature existed on some early bulletin boards and in DOS-based chat rooms... possible to re-create this ancient technology? And yes, I realize it would leave holes in some threads, but that could be really fun... |

I've found that the problem with that function is the quote button, since most people on here seem to quote the person above them when they post, so you would inevitablly read that post anyway. Not to mention on another board I am on that does have it, I end up unignoring people just to make conversations they are involved in make sense.

but, until then, I just ignore the threads that get under my skin the worst, and just check randomly to see if there is anything site councilish I need to do. hahah

This technology survived well into the days of the USENet. When newsgroups roamed the land, and messages were up- and down-loaded in batches using UUCP over what were then known as "high-speed" analog modem connections. In days of yore, netiquette was followed, lest lusers would incur the wrath of a flame war, which would waste countless minutes of download time -- download time which was otherwise reserved for retrieving multi-part articles containing uuencoded images of asian girls in school girl outf--- umm, I digress........
Yeah, in those olden days, if you listened carefully to the melodious tones of your 300-baud modem connection, you could hear a sound when a luser was appended to a killfile.
That sound was:
* PLONK! *
Ah, the good ole days.

No one has any idea what I'm talking about at this point, do they? *deep sigh* :P

Indeed. It was only last year I finally gave up my easynews account (and you wouldn't believe gigs I'd accumulated by then) though I am sorely tempted to get it again....
*PLONK* - that's what we need. |

You're one of the most entertaining folks on this site ... I can't imagine that anyone would ever want to ignore you! (which I guess is why you'd want to see what it felt like to be ignored) ... ok, so just ignore me, I'm not making sense today! |

I'm resurrecting this thread... WITH A GIANT PRETTY PLEASE... otherwise, I'm going to throw a huge tantrum and demand that someone pay for my membership :) |
