I see that I've lost a couple of comments received. What would cause this to go down? Account deletion/banning? I always thought that even if you canceled your account, or had it banned/deleted, that the comments would stay?
I wish there was a way to know which comments were gone. lol. |

| I don't know - happens when the database gets a good cleaning, I think. Perhaps they're totally random. |

| I noticed the same thing yesterday.. I lost one comment.. I tried to figure out which one it was but can't remember.. And, I know it was a recent one because the image at the top is different when I look at the comments recvd.. If I could just remember which one it was, then maybe I could remember who gave it to me.. |

| i've also noticed this every so often, but could never figure out which one went away and for what reason. Sheesh, we live and die by our comments, so it's emotionally draining (well, not really, lol) when we lose a comment!! |

| If you remove a picture you had in your portfolio - even one you posted for an example or something, if it had comments, they go away. |

I knew that, but I haven't removed anything that had comments on it, so it wasn't that. |

| Ok, here's my theory: I believe there is a set of algorithms that detect when forum activity drops by a certain amount and that triggers some random change to the site statistics. Inevitably someone will notice and post a "WTF?" thread, thereby restoring forum activity to acceptable levels. Quite brilliant really. |

I remember a thread on this a while back, and I believe the final answer was: when a user account is deleted (removed)... their comments go away (unless the comment was on a Challenge entry).
Seems strange now that I've typed it though - may have to double-check that. |
