Is it that people on certain times zones vote low whilst other times zones vote high??
This morning I was getting 6s and 7s and the odd 8

That's my theory as well. The high and low votes often seem to come in groups.

Yeah all is going swimmingly well and then a bird of prey declokes and hits you with a tracheon beam of 4s before you can get the shields up grrrr

This is only my second submission so it is quite possible that mine is a crappy shot, but we'll just to have wait and see.

I'm sitting on 4.93 at the moment which is not surprising given the nature of the photograph. I took it on holidays and had no idea about this challenge until I returned home the day after I shot it, so I took little care when I took the photo.

Next time I will remember to think DPchallenge whenever I am away cause who knows what challenge will have started the few days before I come home. :-)))

I was away for 2½ weeks so it wouldn't have mattered, except maybe for the Free Study challenge. I flew out on the 29th June and had little access to the net as I was diving for half the time and in the jungle for the other half. I think I might have a good one for the free study though! :-))

Thanks for your advice though!

I'm hanging for a DSLR, I want a Nikon D90. Got to play with one in Borneo and now I want it. LOL

I want to apologize for my "crap" comment.. I was in a mood and hadn't had any caffeine yet. : )

I think some people really tried to get more "creative" in this challenge; some images were executed well and others not. I have been in the 4.whatever range in other challenges when I tried to think more creatively, but I've also have won a ribbon or two. I know here on DPC it's a growing/learning process but I also think it's a popularity club which I haven't been (and prefer not to) asked to join. : )

I was in very heady territory but it has now begun to fall steadily; helped on its way by the '2' I just got. :)

How can you tell what vote you just got during the voting process?

Only if I divert power from the main voting core

Using a spreadsheet that does the calcualtions for you. I use the one that HawkeyeLoneWolf has linked on his profile page. Last time I tried to access it the link was bad. If that is still the case. PM me your E-mail and I will send it to you.

Added: It still does not work.

I didn't see anything that deserved a 2, but for a handful of members, that is their default vote for anything that does not stand out to them.

I swear there are a handful of voters that use the scale upside down...

4.4 and dropping. I'm delighted to see this photo scores so low, cause I appreciate it.

Now I have the spreadsheet, I may have to wait longer than normal to get more votes LOL

Well the voters obviously don't like this one very much. But I sure do and so does my one commenter who isn't voting at the time but felt compelled to comment anyway. So it must of wowed this person which made me feel really good because I love this shot. Again out of my comfort zone which I seem to be doing alot lately and I have the scores to prove it, so there.
