There are a number of current threads evaluating and critiquing the current DPC status quo and its administration. I believe that those threads are absolutely essential to the continued improvement and advancement of this site and its community. Expression of new ideas, evaluation of existing rulesets, and the questioning of possibly erroneous decisions ensure the betterment of us all.
After having written to one of those threads and found that it was perhaps not the appropriate location for my comments, I decided to open a new one - dedicated to praising the SC & DPC for what it does.
THANK YOU SC MEMBERS FOR THE TIRELESS AND THANKLESS JOBS THAT YOU DO. I APPRECIATE THE TIME AND EFFORT YOU PUT FORTH OUT OF YOUR OWN PERSONAL LIVES AND BUSY SCHEDULES TO ENSURE THE CONTINUATION AND GROWTH OF THIS SITE & COMMUNITY.
If you have something POSITIVE to say about the SC, the Administrators, or the DPC Site/Community, say it here:

Concur.....I play a little on other sites. I consider this my home......Thanks for all you do! I'd be lost without DPC! |

During my years at DPC, I have been witness to much "SC abuse". I came to the conclusion long ago that they are all masochists, so I try to do my part every once in a while by heaping some pain on them myself.

I also want to thank the SC for doing what they do with no pay and lots of headaches. I don't think that I could do it. |

Haha. Just kidding. Heck, if it weren't for DPC, I'd be over my head in riches and wealth and completely absorbed in my massive global corporate empire that I would've built.
edit: oh, and the SC gets most of the credit for that.

While I might not agree with every decision the SC makes, I don't agree with everything ANYONE does, including myself.
Kudos to SC for all of the work they do, quietly and thanklessly in the background. It's rare that I have to wait long at all for a general question to be answered and I appreciate that, too.
As far as DPC goes... IS there life without DPC? I think not. :) |

I served on the board of a club for 4 years and it was a very similar thankless job. A lot of complaints about what people thought you should do and little recognition of what you did do. If I thanked them, then it would no longer be a thankless job.
Thanks. |

I may not always agree with the way things are run around here, but I have the utmost respect for the SC and the job they do.
To echo others here, without DPC I don't know where I'd go. I consider this a sort of online home, where I know I can always find good folk who share my passion for photography. I've yet to find another site that comes close.
Long live DPC!

Many thanks from me too! I tell every single person I know that has any interest in serious photography that dpChallenge is where I have learned more than I learned from 4 photography classes and countless books combined -- plus -- I've made some of the best friends I will ever have here. Site Council is the backbone that makes it what it is, and I think it will be a huge part of my life until. . . .until alzheimers keeps me from being able to remember my username. (uh-oh. . . maybe even longer than that cuz I've sworn at times I feel it setting in).
((( Big Group Hug for Site Council ))))

Ya, just because we ask for improvements from time to time doesn't mean we don't appreciate what you guys do! |

I've been known to mouth off and stick my foot in my mouth in the process, but I always am appreciative of the hard work anyone does when it goes unpaid and unappreciated. I've strayed off for a few months but always return because here is where most of my friends are. I may hate rules, but I sure love my friends.
Hail Hail to the SC for putting up with BS from people like me. :) |

4 years ago my life was on a downward spiral. I had almost hit rock bottom when I found an internet kiosk near my dumpster that had a few minutes of time remaining. My heart leapt for joy as I typed 'photo challenge' into Google. With just 30 seconds of time remaining, I clicked 'Pay' and handed over the last $25 of my worldly worth to Challenging Technologies LLC.
I fell back onto the pavement as the kiosk timed out, feeling the strength ebb from my body. That $25 would have bought me fish and bread for a month. I held my head in despair, but I was even too weak to sob.
At that moment, I felt a warmth envelope my body, a strange unearthly glow surrounded me and a cloud appeared, descending slowly to the ground. A deep voice boomed out; 'Mortal, you have been saved. You have joined the ranks of the chosen few. SC are your masters, and will forever decide your destiny. Do not mock them, do not question them, for they have the power to smite'
I knelt there in my rags, transfixed on this wondrous sight, as the images of a thousand ribbon winners passed before my eyes.
And thus, I was saved. |

You folks do realize that your praise is just swelling their heads and now we will even more "space" issues with them trying to get their heads through the doors to get some work done. We need a sign, "Please do not feed the SC"

I am so very new here (not even a year) and I am overwhelmed with the compassion that each of the members have for each other and for what time the SC pours into this site, it is a tiresome and thankless job, please know that I appreciate all that you do...I tell anyone that will listen about DPC and I have gotten a few to join...in the few months that I have been here I have really, really seen an improvement in my photography (ok, don't look to close people) but them important thing is that without you (SC) we wouldn't have DPC and and you see all of us running amuck without your guidance....(I see pictures coming soon) |

Oh sheesh, all this ass-kissing makes me want to puke!
Well... I also appreciate all the time and effort the totally awesome ninjas SC put in for this ungrateful group of bastards. The amount of crap they put up with, and amount of expertise they give back is always an amazement to me. I could never do it, I'd certainly snap early on and banish every last person from DPC within a week.
OK, I've said it. Now I have to go and wash my mouth out with some JD.
