Until now I never thought to ask for a pool! If DPC had a pool everyone would be more relaxed.

I like the Hotel analogy.

Except that at a Hotel, the majority of people make reasonable requests. I doubt that many people check into a hotel, and ask for a bigger tv, the right to write on the walls, or a complete makeover of decor. Let along a vote to say who is on the board of directors, or even on the local hotel staff.

There are changes that I would like to see. At the same time, while I am a paying member, I don't think I have the right to say how the site is run. I rent a room, that's it. If I want a bigger room, there are addtional fees and plans available.

I've seen people come, and seen some I hated to see go. But what I have not seen is anyone go out and start their own "perfect site", that has (IMNSHO) been a creditable challenger to DPC.

I would happily pay a bit more for a slightly bigger room and better amenities.

Although a couple of the staff could pull their weight a bit more, some of them just seem to come here as they have nowhere else to go and seem completely bored with hotel life in general.

But the staff is unpaid (aren't they?) I don't expect nearly as much from volunteers as I do from paid employees. In fact, I respect volunteers a whole heck of a lot more than paid employees. (well, unless the paid employee is stellar, of course)

I was removed from the SC when I didn't do anything for awhile so they must be doing something somewhere. Or something.

It was guest complaints about severe smiting.

Just a quick question to the SC members reading here.. How many of you, if you wasn't in the SC, would still use the site? or do you only visit the site because you are on the SC?

This is not another dig - its just a general inquiry. I am all dug out today.

Couldn't have been that severe. You're still around.

I've built up an incredible tolerance to smiting in my lifetime.

i'm just here for threads like these. reading them makes me feel like this guy:

seriously, though, these are some of the most active and useful forums around. they're maybe not the most technically indepth sometimes, but i have found it rare to have such worldwide points of view in so concentrated a space. i'd be around.

I second that (or did somebody already second this?, then I third it, yep.) :))))

Edited: With all due respect to mucky of course.

Haven't you ever gotten tired of doing something, and decided you still wanted to be involved, but maybe from a different angle? If someone has experience and insight, but is no longer interested in competing, what's wrong with helping out in a different way? That's why athletes become coaches.

You and Art got rooms? I am sleeping in an old VW van with three flat tires (I am sure there would be four flat tires if it had four tires) out in the parking lot. It wouldn't be so bad if the roof didn't leak and if those dang kids would go away.

That is hilarious. The one for May 19 looks like Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels.
