well that's good news for a kick off. Thanks for organising this, it'll be fun to look and comment.

Just upload your photos to your portfolio. I'm assuming May 1st someone will start a posting thread, and you just post your thumbnails to that thread. Some people will try to post one a day, but lots of people post at their leisure.

In side challenges, try to comment when you can as well. Its a good way to get critiques for your photos.

I gave it a shot... hope you don't mind. Here is what I got:

This is what I love about overlays. You could give the same images out to a bunch of people and you'd get a whole lot of different results. Check here for an explanation of blending modes. I usually start w/ multiply (goes darker) then screen (lighter) then overlay (a combo of the two).

I also copied my layers in the details of the image. If you want a different explanation PM me.

anyone taking/making there own overlays for the month, i know a bunch of people buy or use free overlays but for me i like to take/make my own for the feeling that its all my work and no aditives from another. i also think its pretty fun just to go out find intristing things to use.

Looking forward to seeing what you create.

For those who don't wish to make there own - Don't forget the Textures Gallery!

Edit to say - that it's always good form to credit the photographer who's texture you're using!

I'm not really that much of a purist (texture snob?? 8)), but I like to make my own overlays, because when we go overboard on using the same textures and overlays, everything starts looking the same. Figures!D

Don't forget, you can get some pretty cool textures by making your own brushes and using them selectively.

I will be trying to create my own overlays, too. Gonna put them in a separate gallery in my portfolio, help yourself.

Here are some I have made. Please feel free to use 'em. I will definitely try to come up with some new ones this month also.

Well, add me to the list - not that I'll be any more consistent than last month, but it's fun to at least try.

If you want a good resource, www.imageafter.com has a bunch of stuff. A lot of it is garbage, but its a large catalog, so there is a ton of stuff worth using as well.

Can I join in here too please. I think I said I would when you put the question in Unconventional, but I missed the point of finding the right thread to join in.
