As I have mentioned in this thread and this thread I have a daughter going to canada for Girl Guides.
As a family we have to raise approx $6000 - $7000 NZD to pay for this.
I would like to set up a blog to communicate with our friends, family and supporters about all aspects of our fundraising.
I havent really had much experience with Blogs but can see the potential in our situation!
I would love it if someone could hold my hand and help me set up an easy to read nice looking blog.
Also if anyone can point me to what they believe are great blogs as examples that would be great too :) |

I'd go Wordpress.com ahead of Blogger. |

I have an example of each. These are personal blogs. Either of them are easy to use for a novice.
Wordpress (mine, hosted on my site): Jojo's photo blog
Blogger (set up for school): Crazy blog
ETA: Go testdrive them both and decide which one you like. These were both set up very simply as I have little to NO html expertise ;)

Thanks JoJo I liked the look of the blogger one the best. Did you find much difference between them? |

Wordpress is 'better' than blogger in a lot of ways but it might not be so easy to setup for someone who may not have the experience in doing that... I use wordpress, but I don't recommend it to many people who haven't had any experience in setting up an application like that.

I started with blogger back in 2000, migrated to MovableType a little while later, and then on to Wordpress (self hosted, not of the Wordpress.com variety, though I have tested the .com version) and haven't changed since. I've tried MANY other blogging and CMS tools, and WP is still me preferred blogging software, though others are better for other things. What I like about WP is that it is simple enough for a blogging novice to learn, but powerful enough to allow that novice to expand their site as their experience grows. Blogger is a little restrictive in that way... but I agree... blogger is easier to master... it's learning curve is much gentler, though it's peak isn't nearly as high as WP. |

I didn't find a lot of difference between them. Blogger is probably easier for someone just starting out with a blog though. You'll like blogger! They have a lot of neat gadgets and a lot of different layouts to choose from. |

LOL sometimes too much choice is not a good thing, good arguments are being put forward for both....I may have to toss a coin! |
