I can see 'em in my camera, and I got 35 or so off the card, but my computer cannot see 'em to get 'em from either the reader nor with the USB cord attached to the camera.

I sent in a request to Sandisk customer support (I have five of their cards & a reader) but have not heard back.

I tried one of the online recovery software sites, and they claim they can do it, but when I ran the trial version, though it said it could retrieve the files, they wouldn't preview, and I'll be damned if I'll spend the $40 they wanted if I cannot see the images.

Suggestions?

does the computer see the card and not the images? If it doesn't see the card at all, try a reboot. Alternatively, if you have lightroom or bridge and you can see the card, try finding them through there. Good luck!

Here's an article on some file recovery software. Most of them are free, and might be of help.

Yes, the computer sees the card.....I did get about 35 of them off....

This isn't a standard problem....I had downloaded all my other cards following my trip, and it's just this one card.

How do you try to see the card through bridge?

I have CS2/Bridge, but I always download through "My Computer".

Sandisk sends out a mini-CD with RescuePRO Recovery Software with their CF cards. I've never had to use the software, but I think it's supposed to be helpful. Sandisk dedicated technical support hotline 1.866.603.2195 or visit //www.lc-tech.com/rescuepro for support on software.

SanDisk has its own little program called "RescuePro" that came with a couple of the cards I bought from them. Want me to try sending it to you?

EDIT: Or use the link Hahn mentioned ;)

It should show up under my computer in bridge. If you go to my computer so it displays all your drives, it should be listed as a drive. When I connect my camera, it shows as Canon EOS 30D. I click on that, it gives me the choice of CF. Click on that it shows DCIM, click on that I get the folder, click on that it shows the images. It could be that your card is partially corrupted... |

Also - older readers sometimes have a problem with newer cards over 2gb. I had to buy a new reader.

You can try this free solution, or if you are brave, you can try the one that I wrote the last time this happened to me. No guarantees implied.

Sometimes when I pull out my memory card without using safely remove feature the next time I insert the memory card the computer doesn't recognize it. Usually rebooting the computer will fix the problem.

I vote for the problem being the reader rather than the card. I had a similar issue. The SDHC cards require an updated reader...

		Okay, first and foremost......GOT 'EM!!!

I used the SanDisk approved, LC Technologies made RescuePRO.

I have a current SanDisk reader, this *IS* a CF card (Just like it says in the subject line....), and it wasn't a case of a one-shot deal.....I had downloaded images from three other cards, and had even downloaded about 35 images out of this card.

I don't know what happenedf, but the software works fine, and I have 710 more images, some that I wanted REALLY badly.

Thanks to one and all for the help and support!
