I was very close at one point, but have been falling a bit the last 2 days. Certainly not complaining though.

Another sound score. Good result Sam.

enough of this modesty folks - us 'sitting in the middle' people want to see the view in both directions :- )

I have a 5.915 and have slowly been climbing from a 5.7 over the last several days.. if I make it to a 6 - super .. and if not.. super duper pooper scooper.. I don't really care.. I like what I submitted and that's good nuf for moi. ; ))

edited to add: I only have 4 comments.. weird!

for those who comment on every image, why? If your comment is useless, what's the point? Not just in this challenge, but in several I see the people who post that they've commented on 100% of the images but the comments I get are completely irrelevant. Do you do it to make yourselves feel better? Just wondering what the point is? Does anyone else get relevant or constructive comments from these "serial commenters"?

Since I am the only one that has posted to that effect in this thread, and the fact that you PM'd me objecting to my comment, I will assume this is aimed at me.

I guess, in my case, it takes a lot more time than I normally have to comment on all the photos and take a bit of pride when I manage to do so. I can't speak for others, but I would guess that's probably their motive as well. With very few exceptions, my comments explain why I voted as I did on the photo in question. Most people like comments. Frankly, its reactions like this that lead people to stop commenting.

Same. I was at 6.699x some time yesterday and have steadily fallen since. :-/ Hopefully it'll hang in there and be good enough for a Top 20 at least.

This and others. My PM did not obect to your comment, I asked if you let your comment- that was irrelevant to the challenge- affect your voting. I specifically asked you to critic my photo be it good or bad. That's plenty fair. I'm not oppossed to commenting, I just wonder what the motivation for commenting on EVERY picture then posting that you did so in a thread is when the comment is something that serves no purpose?

I agree with Nobody...OK that was too easy...I really do agree with Nobody. His seven word, serial comment on my entry, gave his reaction to the photograph and why. If 80% of his comments are like that then good for him.

That goes for you as well jdroullard, a quick look at your last 10 comments does not reveal overly "useful" comments, and that is directed at your characterization of comments as useless. In truth, I tend to consider most comments helpful, as somewhere in the comment is a message from the viewer. Lighten up, and be thankful someone took the time to comment on your image.

My comment was essentially that your entry was DNMC, because it isn't a pet. If that doesn't apply, then everything on this site is a freestudy. That's not how things work here.

Again, the majority of your last ten comments are not critiques. If you want change, lead by example, not by complaint.

My point was not that comments should all be a thesis on the work. Of course some of my comments are similar, everyones are, but I don't post in a forum that I made comments on everyones work like it's my good deed of the week when the comment says "this looks like it was a zoo".

As far as DNMC, nobody, I guess my score reflects that most people share your opinion, and that's fine. But the "pet" portrayed there happens to be an extremely popular pet, so I asked you to explain why it DNMC to me. I wasn't rude in the PM, so why didn't you respond?

Anyway, I'm not usually this testy, today is an anniverary of a tragedy in my life, so just ignore me :-/

All the best

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope your day/weekend picks up.

At this point, this conversation is outing your entry. Finally, in the future, it's best to wait until the challenge has concluded to PM folks about their comments, etc. In general, PMs about comments during voting usually push people away from commenting.

thank you. I'm not too concerned about outing it on a sub 5 score with a day left ;-) But I'll try to refrain...

Good score Nicole - I suspect you will easily make front page if you stay there . .

methinks bassbone, JaimeVinas, Paulbtw, and Judi are keeping a very low profile on their scores as well . .

Are any of you guys around 7 ? Lot's of 5's have declared - let's enjoy both ends of the spectrum

What's a 7?????

The number of curse words I just spewed out in looking at my score! ;-P
