I have finally got rid of the lurgy - the one I got when I went to Rome with Deb in November! My voice is still a little deeper than it should be, sort of a husky 0898 telephone voice (that will only mean something to those from the UK, I suspect), but I feel WELL!!! First time in two and a half months! I want to shout from the roof tops, except my voice still won't carry very far, and trying to shout would probably bring the laryngitis back, but hey, listen, I feel great! |

Having found no old schoolchums on facebook, I conducted a search, or, as one does, delegated some software to do one for me. Lo and behold, my primary school no longer exists and there is no trace on the net except for some new, privately run thing in the vicinity that bears no apparent resemblance to my Oliver Twist-like origins. But what about the grammar school? Doesn't exist either. It was Purley County Grammar School when I started in 1963 and Purley Grammar School a few years later when the area became a London borough and was therefore no longer in the county of Surrey. After I left, grammar schools were done away with so it became Purley High School (I think) and around 1988 it coughed and rolled over.
What the searching software did turn up, though, was a digitised 8mm film of a trip to the school hut in Snowdonia in 1966. I strongly suspect that the kid with the red trunks splashing water around in a mountain stream about half way through, is me.
So just as I'm psychically wailing about history conspiring to eradicate me, it shows me something to make me wish it had. There's probably a lesson there, but if there's one thing I learned at school, it's that I never learn.
It's the cinematographic talents of the geography teacher on display as well, and you're not obliged to watch. |

raish, I didn't realise you were THAT old (she say's ducking)! I would guess it was a little chilly swimming in Snowdonia....? |

Well, I entered sound with a "snapshot" so I'm expecting a 4.5. ROFL! Going to go watch raish play in the water now! |

I entered silence, so I had to make a shot that didn't snap.
Sara, I was THAT young, so it didn't matter. A ducking you shall have, though. |

Ansel Adams with glasses can be seen in the results thread. Congrats to goinskiing and LaMas, who get to give comments to the rest of the Team Suck entries in their challenges. |

Man, you know you're in a photographic slump when you take your camera to a 2 year old's birthday party and don't take a single photo :/ |

Sometimes it's more fun to watch than to actually take pictures at these kinds of parties. That's my excuse anyway. :) |

That was my excuse this time too. I wanted to get some 50mm f/1.7 prime portraits, but meh. |

I look like Brad Pitt when I cry. Amazingly, it's the only time I don't look like Jerry Lewis. That's why I'm always thinking about sick puppies. |

Hi. How is everybody? Other than Don trying to be Brad Pitt, that is...
Anything new and exciting going on? I'm doing laundry at the moment... wish the dryer would finish so I can go to bed. Still haven't picked something for this month's FS. Nor have I entered the Posthumous "Best of".... And I'm behind in commenting on the side challenges I'm playing in.
You?

Me? I'm languishing in financial hell, but managed to trade some PSP games in to get a new one so that I can at least lose myself in fantasy and not have to realize the hell I'm in. lol.
I should do some laundry today.
I finally got my "Grey" shot today, although it's about as DPC friendly as a Troll voter from Iceland, but c'est la vie. Without a tripod, I can't do it any better than I did, and for me personally there's a certain Joie de Vivre. Actually, I could probably go back out and do it better, but I'm too damn lazy.
Oh, and I also have a FS entry, which I think is high 5 material.
Gearing up for the FS commenting, which I've made some adjustments to in order to avoid Crazy Timeâ„¢ again, so looking forward to that as well.
Now I just have to figure out how to turn a jar of peanut butter and some paper towel into a meal for dinner tonight. |

Not much is new here for me, I still need to get crackin' on comments for Ansel Adams as my punishment for forgetting to suck. I'm trying to survive school as well as it's handing me my butt on a silver platter something fierce...

He still shows when I view your portfolio. Adjust preferences for how many images you want to display and you can get him back with the magic number "6"...

Ummm....not much happening here. Scores currently over 5 so no complaints, lol! Snowing. Cats inside. Trying to get a Kathy Reichs novel read by tomorrow, cause it's due, but keep getting caught up in cooking/minor renovations. Meant to go snowshoeing later this evening with new guy. Oh yeah think I have an FS shot (one of my resolutions this year, enter each FS) but not sure. Not all elements are in focus. |
