Thank you for the vote of confidence Jeff, my shot for the best of is doing alright but nothing like the last one. Oh and to answer your query "Congratulations on the PB! I like to think our little head to head competition had something to do with it. Awesome shot!" Yes it sure did, after looking through your portfolio I knew I'd have to step up my game on put up a good fight or you would make short work of me.

PS: Great image in the Life Challenge! ....it hurt to say that, but I meant it....it's a goodie! I've got one in the 'Personality' challenge. I like it because I have a very strong personal connection to the image, which is often the 'kiss of death' on DPC....I thought I was totally gone in this competition, but...I might hang on by the fingernails...at least for one more challenge. Are you in it? ;)

Thanks for the compliment. :) No, you will certainly have me in the "Best of" challenge. I purposely put in one I KNEW would not do well because sometimes I just get tired of catering to the voter. It's a photo I really like and I don't care how it does. So congrats on beating me in Best of hehe (it will happen, no worries!)
I only have one in STOCK - cooking, and I am contemplating Glasses, and that is it for the moment.

Well... goinskiing, I've now entered my 3rd photo for the month, so if you're in "Best of 2008", "Personality" and "Ansel Adams" then we're officially "Game On!" (though, there's a good chance that it'll be well and truly over before it even gets to the "Ansel Adams" challenge if you've entered the other two). |

Well, best of 2008 is not going so hot (5.3), but I have an Ansel Adams and Personality that I'm excited about.
ETA: It'll be a close match methinks.

Methinks you might be right on that. If my Best of holds it 5.5000 and yours stays in the 5.3s, this should make it to the Adams challenge (I don't rate my Personality entry at all). |

My personality is at a 4.1. That along with my 6.5 in Life and my 6.7 in cooking my personality wont help my average. Hahaha. BUT I pulled out of Ansel and went to glasses after getting a half way decent idea and I am in the single tree and am happy with it but still have to time to change it if I see something better this Saturday when I am out shooting. I plan to be in the Free Study.
Now I am excited again and am just going to forget about the personality challenge. I knew I should have pulled it last night when I still had the chance. Hahaha. I have to learn to follow my instincts!
Quigley, if I am reading sempermarine right that means it will be me and you in round 2. My seat belt is on and I am ready to go!

Just to let everyone know, aplomb76 has dropped out. I've therefore drafted in a reserve to take his place, mbrutus2009, who had previously asked in this thread to join but I wasn't able to accommodate him at the time. Marko will be playing LydiaToo.
I've checked with both mbrutus2009 and LydiaToo which challenges they're in, and as they're both in the Best of 2008 challenge, I'll let that one stand as the first challenge that counts for their head-to-head. I should say at this point that I don't know how either is doing in this challenge voting-wise. Also, neither should be aware until this post that they're playing each other. I don't want to give either an advantage by counting a challenge that's presently voting if I know who is leading the other in voting. Either could be winning for all I know and for all they know.
As this matchup has started late, I'm going to extend this one match only by a week to incorporate the open and member challenges in the period 1-7 February (plus any other challenges there might be in this time) I'm conscious that this will potentially delay the end of round 1, and I'll see how things pan out depending on how many challenges people enter and, if it looks like one match is running after all the others have finished, I've got a contingency plan. We'll see how it goes though.
Oh, one more thing. Lydia's entry in Life and her entry in the Stock challenges won't count towards head-to-head, but they will count towards her overall tournament average which will be used for tie-break purposes. |
