After ten days of no running water due to -30 to -40 degree days, we warmed up today and I have water running again tonight. It feels great! We take for granted so many things in our day to day lives, until we lose it. Right now I bow down to the water god.

...I am soooo glad I live in California right about now. Good luck with the water.

Don't you guys have to ration water in the summer?

That's good news, Linda! Now your fridge can finally start making ice cubes again! :)
Stay warm.

Well we don't actually need a fridge to make ice cubes here in the winter. We just fill the tray with water and set it outside on the porch for a couple hours

Ahhh, I see. Ok, one more question: Is it true you have to field dress a moose to become an official Alaskan? I tried it once and I could barely get the skirt on the thing. :/

No, not yet anyway. I live in Northern California in the Bay Area and while we are told there is a drought there has been no news on an actual ration.

How do you stay warm during those temps? I know inside you have heat but I would think it would have to run 24/7 to keep the house warm. Those temps could freeze fire. :P

Here the lows are only in the lows 30's and sometimes upper 20's and I freeze. I have central heat and still use an electric heater. Remind me not to visit Alaska in the winter.

Holy cow, we're getting down to -17 tonight and I thought that was pretty uncomfortable...

Heh! I saw the title and immediately thought "Yay, Linda has water!" I think I hang out here too much to know that just from the thread title.

Congrats!

Well Linda, now you can go grab your camera and start making some of these:
