Me too. Might set a fire under our smug, dues-paying butts. :P

Oh, and if you ribbon in that member challenge, you get to stay on another week. Might lead to some neat "King of the Hill" style infighting.

But that's not fair to us Members. Or is it? Bear with me here: the top-scoring Members get to be Site Council for a week!

King of the hill style infighting, maybe. Friend voting to achieve the right to enter the member challenges, more likely.

I thought they were all Free Studies anyway. Some of the entries have nothing to do with the challenge descriptions. Plus there is no rule that says you have to adhere to the challenge description which in theory makes them all Free Studies IMO.

So, you get a lot of DNMC comments, eh?

You consider THAT to be a reward?! A reward would be for an SC member to get a week off from it while someone takes their place.

Guess I'm just the over-ambitious type :P

I couldn't help it. I can be smartbutt, as you know from my comments and challenge entries.

I agree with this too. Perhaps quarterly or something? January, April, July, October. Or similar. Work something out.

What amazes me are the reactionary responses to this. "OH HELL NO! You ain't gettin' our member privileges! Pay yours monies!" Not exactly warm and welcoming, or thoughtful and contemplative.

This idea has some merit. Kinks could be worked out, and I'm sure that it would fall down to whoever had to run such a thing or code for it or whatever the heck they had to do, but I think it deserves a lot more attention and thought than simply getting our backs up and dismissing it outright.

I find the main problem with this idea is that it represents the first break with our policy of not having any prizes (only pixels) for the challenges. And there are other ways for people to try out membership-level participation ... if you write a tutorial or "How'd They Do That" article you can get a free month of membership. Or, those of you who support this could give away one-month gift memberships to whomever you want ... ;-)

No, the Matrix is not made that way. It's not for visitors. They want you IN ;-)

If you have this... then what are you going to have for the Members who ribbon in challenges? Are we only to reward the folks who don't spend money on the site?
