OK so I'm a huge fan of Paul Simon and his music, not so much Simon and Garfunkel though, but either would be OK.
Portray a song, title, album, or line of one of the songs in a photo. Title of your entry the song title.
Alternatively take a photo and represent one of his songs and make a CD cover of it. This could have the extra rule set of adding text.
I'd love to see what some of the DPC members could do with this.

Flowers Never Bend ... not that it was a popular image or anything. But I could go along with this idea ... :-) |

I was beginning to think I might be the only one who knew or liked Paul Simon. :D His lyrics are very descriptive and unique, as is his music and style. It has spanned many generations as well.
Most people I know dont really understand why I like his music, maybe I dont but I know I have wore out many cassettes and cd's over the years. Thankfully its not much of a problem these days with mp3 formats.

Could work, but don't think it's been done with a solo artist before.
Paul Simon's good, but Dylan has probably been around longer, and Neil Young is no slouch in terms of prolificity (is that a word? Well it is now *grin*).
Past challenges have been the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd...frankly I'm surprised that there hasn't yet been a U2 challenge. |

I think it's perfectly feasible to do it with just Paul Simon. His lyrics are very descriptive stories. There's plenty of imagery to work with. |

Paul Simon has been a force in the music industry for more than 4 decades, he's still writing and performing, and still puts on a hell of a live show. In 2006, Time magazine called him one of the 100 "people who shape our world."
A Paul Simon challenge would be great, but include song lyrics as a topic and title, please.

Of course there was Led Zeppelin a while back also and probably more. For Paul Simon would "Kodachrome" be too obvious? I like your other possibilities. |

Glad to see there is a bit of interest in this. I'd love to see it happen. Not sure if I'd enter or not, but it would be a great one to vote and comment on for me. (as I listen to The Paul Simon Collection I bought last week)

sadly, they took it away. :-(
When I think back
On all the crap I learned in high school
It's a wonder
I can think at all
And though my lack of education
Hasn't hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall
Kodachrome
You give us those nice bright colors
You give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah!
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away
If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single
And brought them all together for one night
I know they'd never match
My sweet imagination
And everything looks worse in black and white
Kodachrome
You give us those nice bright colors
You give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah!
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome (away)
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome (away)
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome
(Leave your boy so far from home)
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome (away) |
