I didn't get any photo stuff, but some of the beasties I care for left me a beasty-coloured CDN $$ that I certainly plan to put to good use. Some of it will certainly be a remote shutter release for the D40! |

Awesome stuff guys!
I got a decent bit of money, but no extra gear :(
SO! That leaves me with what I should buy with it!
I'm kind of considering the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 so I can have a camera to carry with me at all time that DOESN'T weigh 100 lbs, like my D300 + MB-D10 + Lens.
Or, a lens like the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 or the 28-75 f/2.8. Or something else! Like perhaps Rock Band 2! |

Two years/Christmas waiting to upgrade my equipment and finally it happened... I love Santa Claus!
- EOS 5Dmk2
- EF 85 1.2, EF 135 2.0 and EF 50 1.4 (I've lost my first EF 50 1.4 and never figured how). Don't want to shot with zooms any more. Only primes.
- 3x Flash Units, 1x Rigflash and a lot of accessories including radio remote control and portable power.
- DPC Hat gently given by Leo FocusPoint
- A new computer
Well, I forgot to ask Santa Claus for a van. This is a lot of stuff to carry on my old small bag :) |

Look on the bright side - you have three great bodies, a piece of image-stabilized L glass I'd LOVE to have, and the best of them all - the 10-22. What more do you need? :-) |

Well, we were robbed right before we moved into our new house. So most of my christmas gifts involved replacing something that was stolen. They made off with over 4 thousand dollars worth of stuff which included my 70-300mm/kit lense and my videocamera....but thankfully my rebel and my 50mm and my flash were in the car at the time so they didn't get their greedy fingers on them. SO I STILL HAVE MOST OF MY ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT
BUT...
I did get a new laptop, laptop case, laptop mouse, and a laptop cooler. (the things that keep them from overheating on your lap)
I am also waiting on my Photoshop CS4 to show up anyday to replace the CS3 that was on my stolen laptop!! So I can't wait for that.

More like time to learn about close up lighting. Congrats on the lens, though, it's a beauty. Did you get the AF-S or the AF-D version?

@ Beetle
one thing about the flash bracket i found is it doesn't tighten enough using the aluminum hot shoe thing. i use the platic base that comes with the canon flashes to mount them to the light stands.
the other thing is there is potential for the metal bracket to short out the flash - if any of the flash pins contact the mounting bracket. i electrical taped the aluminum bracket to try to avoid that catastrophe before i switched to the plastic foot mount method.

I got my annual subscription renewal for Lenswork, possibly the best b&w photo journal in the world. (Not "gear", but I have what I need there anyway. Lenswork inspires me to use it.)

You're right. I was being a Grinch. I gave out lots of nice presents though, and that actually makes me very happy. |
