Sort of representative of the people chosen by the people.

Matt

Who, besides you, would you nominate?

Except for my DQ, the SC has done an excellent job, both in administering the site and implementing changes. All I see in your proposal is adding another layer to muddle a fairly clear path to the top. If there's a need for more SC members, I'm sure D&L and the current SC can add more.

I would not nominate myself........I dont feel I could be objective enough in some cases. Of course I'm not sure anyone can. But publically pointing out who I feel would add to the site wont serve any purpose at this point. If you really want a small list I can send you one through PM.

Matt

FWIW I would nominate myself...

Depends on who's giving the back rub....

Ack, careful, we're going to get kicked out of the thread for highjacking :P

Sorry, vote's still no. (not to you in particular but to the idea in general)

I've given this some thought, "oh no! incoming rant! take cover!"

No no, no rant today.

If I felt the SC was doing a bad job listening to us about different matters than I would have to vote yes, let in some new blood and ideas.

However I believe in reality the opposite is true. I don't often get a sense that the SC is trying to mute new ideas and opinions about the function of the site. If anything such oppositional often comes from other members and not the SC.

So I think the current system works, and if it comes to a point where the SC are not listening to the people we revolt, cancel our memberships, and raid their break room stealing all their pie. But until then things seem smooth enough.

look's like it is time to move over to the SC Secret HQ . .

I have to add though that I also believe that the SC do an arduous job to a very high standard, and have only ever been pleasant and patient anytime I have had to deal with them . . especially the patient bit ;- )

Don't post stuff like that, even if it is true, the OP will get his panties in a wad and get cranky.

I don't really need to be a member of Site Council. But it would be very cool if I could get to make my own little member icon - just like the SC. A little Viking guy would be OK for me :P

Not going to read this thread but I want to state that I do not agree with the OP and I also think the site council is doing a fine job. Nobody is perfect. It seems someone is pissed and wants to change the world because of it. ;]

Wander over here and check out the |DPC Custom Icons| section: //www.onetacoshort.com/DPCmod/

I'm not sure if Smurfguy is still setting up new ones, but I still see mine. :)

Isn't all this the entire point of the 'Web Site Suggestions' forum and the other 'site council announcement' forums?

Or is this third tier of users, added in to the current 4 tiers, going to get extended and expanded access to the SC?

Remember that the SC originally was and still is pooled from a bunch of site users who were put together to help run the site and provide user feedback to D&L. It seems your suggestion is to form a sub-SC to help the SC run the site and provide user feedback to the SC to provide to D&L.

Do they have to complete TPS reports too?

First they have to meet with the Bobs.

Matt, it sounds like you think that the current SC needs help determining what is important to the members. Can you give specific examples of instances where a need of the membership has been completely ignored?

Quite honestly with the childish behavior of others in this thread I have realized this really isnt important. They can do what they want with the site.

OK then. If you think of an example later and wish to discuss it, please feel free to submit a ticket to the entire SC or PM me privately.

Chin up, tiger.

Matt

Well, somewhere off in the distance I see little elves thumbing through the forums right now looking at every thread to see if you ever went off topic.

In the meantime, I think that your suggestion has relatively no merit. You did not found DPC, you did not build DPC, you did not spend your money to keep it afloat until it became self supporting, (if it ever has). But now you want to vote on how to tell Langdon to run his site? I'm not sure I see the logic. If I buy a membership at Sam's Club I don't have a say in how the store is run. Sure we can all vote with our feet. But I've not seen anyone ready to go start their own challenge site. You up for it?

How the hell does adding a council seat or two to have an influx of new blood voted on by the members become me telling Langdon how to run his site. You are way off base as are most of the others who apparently dont understand my point behind any of this. I have stated many times I have no issue with the current SC, but I think that influxing some new ideas now and then would be a good thing. Something doesnt have to be broke to be changed or "fixed" sometimes sitting still in one spot is the same as going backwards. You are welcome to your opinion as am I, apparently you and the others apparently also feel the need to insult me for having an opinion different then yours.

I have asked that the thread be locked but apparently they arent going to lock it.

Those elves are going to be looking for a long, long time. I may not agree 100% with Matt's proposal, but I do know he is a man of integrity and professionalism.
