Seems to me as if DPC has made a left turn and frogs are now the new water drops or wine glasses. I've noticed a LOT of frogs being entered in challenges lately ... some really fantastic images too! Apparently I shouldn't concentrate on trying to capture the perfect water drop splash, I should just go out and get myself an exotic frog or 2! Has anyone else noticed the influx of frogs?

More frogs? Yes. They are kinda fun to look at - for awhile anyway.

Close to the number of water shots? Not by a long shot...yet. :-)

ETA - Come springtime (in North America) the frogs will not be able to keep up with the butterflies.

I remember seeing a thread where someone rented a frog for a shoot ... can't remember who it was though ... I'll have to scan the forum and see if I can find it ... rental frogs, LOL!

Well I blame her for starting a trend (perhaps) but I think the true trouble began with Judi and Lydiatoo. LOL

I've been saying this for a while now. I actually mentioned it in some other thread a few months ago : )

Pam, it's funny you should mention frogs being the new water drops. I was thinking about a frog pic today (no, Leo, not be dropping the frog into a basin of water ;-) but, to be honest, I couldn't imagine holding a frog or picking one up. I think it would terrify me... maybe rubber gloves are the answer ;-))

My sixth highest score is of a frog, and that was from June last year.

I think it actually started a long time ago with this shot by Rackat in November 2002.

I hate frogs...but they keep hopping into my images!!!

- Ribbon
- Ribbon
and one just cause I love this image.
- The Definition Of Pain.
This frog was definitely alive as I listened to his screams before I started photographing them.

I have done fairly well with the frog shots I have entered, they pose so easily, and they are fun to look at,& work with. I wouldn't consider them the next water drop....yet....and it doesn't matter to me anyway, I will always play with frogs..reptiles...spiders....whatever is interesting.

'Are Frogs The New Water Drops?'

Guess it depends on the height you drop them from? And, would that be a drop/splash or a drop/splatt!!

??

Honestly I love frogs (and newts) - always have since I was little. I left a bucket on the side of the house and it filled with rain water and a frog laid eggs and I now have tadpoles, I am so excited. I will fret over them all winter hoping that they make it through the winter and provide more fun shots this Spring. So, water drops, woody, ducks - it's all fun. I don't agree that they are easy to pose - but when they jump or takeoff they don't go far and are easy to wrangle back into your frame for the most part :-)
