Ok, I am missing out on entering the Feast Challenge because it's NOT Thanksgiving up here and I REFUSE to cook a gourmet dinner to get a shot. ;)) Now, we have a Super Powers Challenge AFTER Halloween is over. So, where do I find a gourmet meal and a super power to photograph?! :))
Anyone coming up with any great ideas for the Super Power Challenge? |

Hopefully people are coming up with better ideas than static shots of food and someone dressed in a halloween costume ;) |

How about "Flying Food"?
Don't know about your family but, mine can sure get into fights during holiday meals! ;)
If there's a Super Power....it's picking peas and corn out of your hair, while simultaneously, wiping dripping gravy from your shirt before the dog leaps on the table! |

I'm drawing blanks.
No food shot and no Superpower shot. I have 6 images ready for twisted and 2 for Straight though. That's never happened before so early for me, although these are not the hardest challenges to shoot for.
Oh and I just want to say Congrats to all in the Food challenge for finishing in the top 39. :)

Yes people are coming up with static shots of food and you will like them.
Even if mine is quite boring. |

LOL...even the Brown in the Feast Challenge still lands one in 39th place! That's a feat that I can't get sometimes, even with my best shot! ;)) |

Ok, no ideas soaring here on the Super Power challenge yet. Must be the Turkey Drowsies....all that Tryptophan coursing through brain vessels...either that, or belts are so tight that no one can think straight??? NO...wait....everyone is out shopping???

Are there 39 turkeys?! ;))
Now, there's a Posthumous Portrait!
(ok, that was BAD! ;))
ETA: I think I need to log off and go to bed...my sense of humor is becoming whacky.

*RANT WARNING*
OK I am so royally p.o'd right now, IF I am able to get a shot for Superpower it'll probably be really stupid/ugly. The only person I trust enough to help with the shoot refused to help, and the technics of the shot are such that it is virtually impossible to get the shot I want on Continuous mode, which sure would help a whole frickin' lot. So I have to add extra light, which means I then have to darken up the shot in PS...and I just ran out of my fave Chilean red, so now I have even more reason to be annnoyed!
However maybe I should just submit a pic of Lily, she had the superpower of being able to calm me down with those big blue eyes and a few gentle head butts... |

OK I am officially out. I got only ONE remotely usable shot, which is blurry. And we all know what happens to blurry entries on this site.
*Rant over* |

Why this incessant need to be in the challenge? Take a breath, step back, and be happy that you made a good decision and will be sitting out a challenge. Not the end of the world ;) |

You entered it!?
Alright, that's it, do we need to stage an intervention? |

LOL yeah I better watch out for tall bald guys with Texan accents now, eh?
No fear, it's NOT in SuperPower. But it is entered. Or will be as soon as I go check what size it has to be...OK it's in where it's meant to be now and maybe will even stand a chance!

LOL.......yeah, I think it takes "superpowers" NOT to enter sometimes! It's kind of a bit of "self-masochism" going on here.
We tend to swear off of entering these challenges but, then something just kind of DRIVES us back to entering again. That's when you know that a true addiction to photography challenges has set in. It's like being a Photo Challenge Junkie...just one more "fix" and yet, you know that while you're on this "high" in getting a shot, entering it and waiting with baited breath, you also know that the "crash" is coming as the scores roll in. And, it's during that crash that you vow to go on the wagon again....that is, until the next challenge description hits the page and your will power begins to weaken until you're having dreams of shots to enter it and WHAM....you've fallen off the wagon!
Actually, I sat out a couple of challenges before I shot my mouth off again in one of the score threads. I'm back here and there, when a challenge hits my mind creatively but, I'm also entering the type of shots that I like now, with the idea in mind that it's MY style and likely isn't going to go over well at DPC and I've braced myself for that fact. Still, in doing so, I've been getting some pretty great comments and a couple of faves. Of course, my score is not great but, I see one thing....there are people in here who are looking for something "different" than the traditional DPC "look"!!!! That's refreshing to know. It means that some of the newcomers are actually looking for something other than the usual styles.
So, SUSAN.....CHEER UP! Don't judge your shot according to Traditional DPC Standards because while there still may be a high number of traditionlists in here that bring down scores on un-traditional shots, there are voters in here who are just waiting to see something new. Please don't call your shot "crappy"!!!! Forget the "oof" comments and look at the overall messages about your compositon, subject matter, etc.. Forget the technicals. For you to be entering it...you've obviously got some kind of value to it within yourself. Pat yourself on the back and enter it and stick your chin up!!! Sometimes, people don't know what they like until they actually see it!
RAH-RAH......enough cheerleading yet?! ;)) I can get "whacky" again like I was earlier in this thread!!!! |

Love the rah-rah attitude, I think you just put into words what Druli and Lily would voice if they could!
Definitely, yes, some masochism going on. I've always been hard on myself. Just want to get a really cool shot but was not able to get an assistant to help, so had to do a sp in a rather tricky situation. So it's blurry but not too blurry, and I don't get too upset by dpc traditionalist values and expectations.
Still, as I've *mysteriously* hinted, it IS entered...just not in SP...and in fact has already been noticed by a dpcer whom I do respect...
'Nuther hint, it's not in the monthly free study or Masters Challenge so that mebbe kinda sorta narrows the field a little :-) |

It'll probably come in higher than mine no matter what. Won't be hard to pick it out. |

With the really low number of entries, I'm expecting some VERY good images. I'll be surprised if I don't have my top number of 10s given exceeded on this challenge.
