Obama's first indicant of how he plans to govern is offering Rahm_Emanuel the chief of staff position. This could mean either a repeat of Jimmy Carter's terrible staffing choices when he took his entire crowd from Plains to DC and managed to isolate the White House from everybody and trying to run the nation from a closed set of insiders, since Emanuel is a Chicago guy. Or it could be a good sign, in that Emanuel is a slightly left centrist member of the Democratic Leadership Council, a group that produced Bill Clinton's "third way" also known by more liberal members of the Democratic party as the "The Republican Wing of the Democratic Party", so maybe this is the first down payment on Obama's pledge of reaching across the isle and ruling from the middle. |

Sorry for my misunderstanding, I thought by "Biden's manufactured crisis" you were saying that Biden was going to manufacture it. I see now you clarified it in your first response to me, but by then I thought I knew what you were saying and so your clarification went over my head. Again, my bad. |

It occurred to me that this was my first time ever to search for a presidential speech on YouTube without needing a good laugh.
He is an awesome speaker! |
Oh I have watched it 3 times since last night. There is a link in my signature text if you wish to watch it again anytime. I love the 'yes we can' story and how it travels through a century and ends at a quivering finger reaching out an electronic voting machine.

Do you only see negativity around? Get out of the cave and see how the whole world is breathing a whiff of fresh air. Take the moment before it passes.... there will be plenty of years to crib. If only people looked beyond prejudices.

What a strange thing to have in a statesman and the ledaer of the free world.
I voted for him because he gives me hope.

I couldn't vote for him as I am not an American citizen... but would have in a heartbeat given the chance.
You are right... he does instill hope and a desire to succeed.

How do you come up with these unbelieveable analogies?
On WHAT level could you POSSIBLY compare the two?

I'm still waiting for Obama to pull off the rubber face mask and reveal himself as Bin Laden. I'd have thought the end of his speech would have been a good time to do it.

Every other media is talking about history in the making... except FoxNews.. whose headlines today are not quite forward looking. It says: "A world of trouble"

Is it okay to use the C-word if one is applying it to a news network and not a person? :-p |

Lighten up. It was a dig at some of the conspiracy theories. I forgot the smiley. I'd posted earlier in this thread that I thought Obama's speech was amazing.
edit: change 'Osama' to 'Obama'

I apologise if I misunderstood. Yes a smiley would have helped a lot...

Brings to mind that Simpson's "Treehouse of Horror" episode when Clinton and Dole are replaced by space aliens. :-) |
