Kicking off...

11/01/2008 10:52:05 PM · #3
Sorry about starting the other thread there Jimi, let my enthusiasm get the best of me. Don't know how I missed this one when I looked through the thread list. Had the other one locked, and will message dkournek to copy their post here.

On to the fun!

I'm going to cheat, because I've been rather sick still (have had a bad cold for 2 weeks now), and have been dealing with a migraine all day. I took this a few days ago to see how my cell phone was going to hold up for this challenge, and I'm actually really liking some of the results. I look forward to putting it through the paces for the next month.

That can be tricky and varies from phone to phone. I'll see if I can do some searching for yours. Did it come with a USB cable? Does it use a memory card of some type?

*EDIT* DOH, I'll need to know what kind of phone it is. lol. I thought you had added it already.

Sprint something or other. Qualcomm 3G CDMA? Sanyo Katana II? Does any of that help? It's nothing great, I'm sure of that.

Thanks. I'll look around too.

If you didn't get them with the phone, you're most likely going to have to purchase a USB cable for your phone You MIGHT also have to purchase transfer software if the phone doesn't allow direct file transfer (ie. doesn't show up as a removable drive). The information that I could find for the Katana II that is out there is pretty convoluted. Might be worth a call to your local wireless store.

If you have the plan with sprint (vision or something like that) you might be able to just email the images to yourself.... Not sure if they come thru at full size in that case.

(and if your phone is past the 2 year mark, you can probably go get a free upgraded phone--'course, you gotta go thru all the change over and sign a new 2 year contract, so not a preferred method)

A bit boring.

People mentioned the "good" quality of the last picture. Really, my camera phone is pretty much the same as any other 2mp camera phone.
I just try shoot with the sun to my back and try not to shoot high contrast shots.

If I shoot with the sun in the frame of with a high contrast scene a lot of data gets clipped.

Fun looking at everyone's stuff, there is some amazing images you all are getting with your phones.

Sorry, I'm not in this challenge. No critiquing, please. I just wanted to share an experience with my camera phone...

Image #1

I've come to realise that the W890i doesn't take great pics lol anyway I went to the Sealife centre at Bournemouth (UK) on the way home from a weekend away with the family and took a few shots of these wonderful things, had to do lots of editing as the grain was horrid.

I can see one really good use for this. I love the way this one overpass on the way to work looks with the sun just coming up, but taking a pic with a real camera while driving up a ramp is dangerous.

#2.

I have a feeling most of mine will be in B&W. I don't like the way my cell phone handles color. (or doesn't handle it)
