Well if my sons brought a girlfriend home or my daughter a boyfriend and they spoke like that, yes they would be shown the door.

Next time you get pulled up for speeding etc try a few of those words on the police officer and then explain to him they are only words. You never know the judge might agree with you, then again maybe not.

Thank you all for commenting, you all didn't have to , I just had to scream at something somewhere and this was a better place than in front of the kids.

So now I have had the night to calm down and not go black op on anyone here is the story.

My German Shep had a seizure earlier in the day. She gets very clingy afterwards and follows you around like glue. several hours later she was with my 7 year old daughter, her best friend of 6 years old and my 4 year old son. I was out in the front yard with them all and they where on their scooters playing, they scoot down the road (I live in a Cul De Sac) and the dog lays down in one of the neighbors driveways, cos she can not go any further with the kids and has used all her strength up, she needs a rest.

SO he comes out and starts screaming at the kids to get the dog off his driveway, they are scared shiRtless that this man is red in the face with spit streaming out of his mouth , screaming at them. I couldn't hear this as I had the strimmer going.

He then goes into his house and gets a GUN.

He then comes out of the house and starts waving it about and threatening to shoot the dog.

This is in front of 3 little children.

At this point they are hysterical and I can hear them, turn the strimmer off and they come running and screaming to me. Dog comes too, cos she thinks he is fucking insane as well.

I went over and calmly asked what he thought he was doing waving guns and be so threatening in front of children. He says it was cos my dog poops in his yard every day. Yeah not my dog, try the other neighbours dog. I told him this. He then gets all threatening on me. I told him if he wanted to talk nicely we could work this out. He is insane with rage.

I leave before I chop off his windpipe. Ashleys Dad comes over cos his daughter is hysterical to find out what is going on. He is a Cop, so of course that made Ashley freak out that he might go over there and get hurt. SHe is clinging onto him saying "Don't go over he will hurt you if you arrest him" He agrees to not go over but keep an eye on them as he has had dealings with them before.

My kids are hysterical cos they think the dog is going to die, but they say to me "Go over there Mum with your boots and kick his arse" So that made me laugh.

But I was so so so so so sos so mad that this person could do this in front of children. It just goes to show you, that even though you live in a houses that cost 400 thousand, their are still scum of the earth living in them.

I am still mad that someone would do this in front of kids, not as mad as last night though, I rarely use fcuk(TM)ing bad words, but you could see electric sparks coming out of my hair and fingers

That's a totally different situation and one that can't be used to defend your complaining in this thread. You're taking this way out of context. Of course you don't use those words with police officers or your kids but on a mostly adult forum it isn't the end of the world when one does. I personally would rather it didn't get used at all but in this thread I see no problem with it. Complaining for complaining's sake is a waste of time.

Juliet, I can't believe that he actually took his gun out in front of kids. I wish these things would happen to me. Stay away from the sicko and tell your kids to avoid him too but i'm sure that's already done. I would call the cops and complain, he can't do that with his gun out in public like that.

okay well I tell you what go into your bosses office and tell him to go F*** him self and to shove it up his F*** ass... Then say it's just a word....

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

Displaying a gun in a threatening manner without the intent to stop a felony in progress is very much against the law. Try to find out if anyone else saw what was going on and would be willing to act as a witness.

Once again, it is a word, without any power on its own. Go up to your boss and say "fuck!", he will not fire you. He will look at you in shock, but he will not fire you, unless he is an ass. Last time I said "fuck!" in public two people asked me what was wrong, they didn't tell me to shut up.

Try these on your boss...
"Go kill yourself", kill isn't a bad word
"Go lick yourself like a dog.", no bad words here either
"Go take a hike.", unless he is into hiking you are in trouble

Come on now, who is doling out the silly pills in this thread.

People tend to ignore this one, too:

A report post would have been much more effective than posting to the thread. In any case, I've added a warning to the subject line so people are not caught unaware.

There just to make you happy Dirt and D, I have changed all my swear words to a Trade Marked Brand FCUK. They also have some fairly nice Fall and Winter lines right now. Be sure to check out the FCUK in the US

Dang, Juliet, this guy lives next door to you??!!

I would be worried. This doesn't sound like the rantings of a sane person. Tell your policeman friend to call backup and go arrest that guy so he gets the hint that he can't act that way. Seriously, brandishing a GUN at kids??!!

Story (the reason this worries me):

story

conviction

Please, above all else, stay safe.

Hugs for you!!

I couldn't agree more Jojo, if that SOB tried that here his ass would be in jail in very short order. I would definitely file a complaint esp when kids are involved.

Aaaaaand Im gonna stop there as Ill go in to a big blown out rant :P

For those of us on the Site Council, it's part of our job to remind people of and enforce the rules, so when acting in that capacity rule 10 doesn't (can't) really apply to us.

These are the same as saying a few naughty words in the "Rant" section of an online forum? Perspective, my friend. I wish I could find it, but there's a post by SC or the owners or someone important lying around here somewhere that explicitly says that DPC is not a "family website".

Somewhat related - my nephew, the younger one, was about 5 or 6 at the time, I'd guess. We're driving along in the family minivan, with his mom, dad, brother, and my mom all crammed in. I'm sitting next to said nephew. There is a lull in conversation. Then nephew, in a nice normal tone of voice, says, simply, "Fvck", only with the proper spelling and all. It was all I could do not to crack up. In fact, I failed at the not cracking up part.

Carry on.

When my son was two, he reversed the "s" sound and the "f" sound.

So "fist" would be "sift," "stop" was "fop," et.

We were doing the loop at Cades Cove in Eastern TN, and he decided he wanted to make his stuffed dog, Huggy Pup, drink out of his sippy cup.

So, he puts the cup to the toys mouth and proceeds to say, "Suck it, Huggy Pup, suck it." EXCEPT instead of s, it was the "f" sound.

I don't care if you cuss online or throw a word around here and there, I'm sure you can find a post with me doing it but my god there is no reason to start a thread cussing like a sailor. I just think it's inappropriate and distasteful.

By all means I am not anyone's parent on here and it's my own fault that I opened this thread while my 7 year old (that reads on a 6th grade level) glanced at the word and asked me what it was. Then I post that I had a problem with it and I get jumped on by "the avg human adult". I never said I didn't cuss I just didn't think it was necessary to promote it the way it was.

As far as the email I got from Jac, I don't understand how you could email that to someone. What kind of person are you that would say such a thing? I not once attacked you I just said "what the hell is wrong with you people" in regards to using foul language on a public website, again not personally attacking anyone.

Louis, family website or not there are children on this site that visit it and regardless if their parents allow them to cuss it's still wrong to promote adulthood like that.

A childs mind is like a sponge and the more they see adults doing it the more they want to. Can't we set an example? Is it that hard?

Oh, and when the 7 year old wanted to know what that word was, I would hope you said it's a very strong word used by adults to express very strong thoughts - often anger and frustration. That it is not a word to be used by children, and that some adults find it offensive as well. Then offer an alternative word to be used in its place. Fudge, or duck, for instance. Perhaps DARN. Or even rats. Carp. Which is crap if you are dyslecix.

I do find, though, that as an adult, standing outside and yelling CARP at the top of my lungs will make me laugh. Yelling the notorious acronym immortalized by an album title by a band I can't remember at the moment, well, that releases a whole lotta stress.

My absolute favorite is Son of a Beeswax.

I yell it all the time around the kids, since usual adult words of frustration are ixnay for the idkays.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming. (I absolutely agree with your first part too. Take an active role in your child's development in the world, don't hide them from it.)

Not really sure what that means, but it seems to say that others should modify their behaviour because some members, like you, let their kids read the Rant forum over their shoulder. No, it's not our job to make sure your child doesn't see that which you don't want them to see.

To paraphrase Melethia, if your kid has questions about words or images on sites that you allow them access to, one would hope you would have a ready answer that's calm, cool, and collected. If not, you should probably come up with one. But don't expect everyone else to abide by your definition of proper behaviour because your son might be exposed to something unseemly. It's a big world, my friend.

Incidentally, by the time I was ten, I was swearing so much the local dock workers would have blushed in shame. My parents would have been appalled, had they known what my friends and I liked to do in defiance of our strict religious education. Later, when I worked at my parents' restaurant, I overhead a conversation between a group of ten to twelve year olds that included such coarse descriptions of the female anatomy that the creamers might need to have been changed for having curdled. Kids aren't so ignorant of the culture in which they're brought up.

My 4 year old does the same thing K, his P's sounds like T's. So we are at the yacht club pond thing and there where little model ships on the pond.

So he starts yelling at the top of his lungs' Ship, Ship,Ship, Ship, Ship,Ship"

Yahh, we have not gone back there
