I was thinking how neat it would be to be able to upload your shots and have a calendar made from them or to be able to chose the 12 prints you wanted on a calendar!

| We've considered that before ... it's pretty expensive. Kinko's and Ofoto.com both have options for making a calendar from your photos. |

//www.shutterfly.com are also good. I used them last year for this and will be getting 4 made next week.
$20 for a 12 month calendar and the quality was really good. |

You can get calendars made on Snapfish.com, too.
I just ordered two 2004 calendars 8.5 inches by 11 inches.
I'll try to remember to post the results
here when I receive them. I haven't tried them before.
Not a bad price. I also Googled for Snapfish coupon and found a $10.00 off coupon code.
So $39.98 - $5.00 (discount for second one) = $34.98
Less $10.00 coupon = $24.98
Plus Shipping & Handling $7.98 = $32.96USD

I saw an advertisement at Kodak Picture Center Online for a calendar with your shot reproduced at 8 x 10 for $4.95. I didn't have time to check this out completely but you can access it by going here:

| Could you all post the optimized image dimensions for these printers? I've found it's usually hard to find the "native" size -- they usually list a minimum resolution. It would be a handy table to have here for our reference. |

I just wondered because this is what I did last year for Christmas gifts, I printed them out, personalized them and laminated them. It's not that expensive overall for me and I have all the supplies here, just thought it would be a nice way to continue to support the site and have a really nice professional one done.

Along the same line, I think I've seen spiral-bound artist's books with enough heavy pages to construct a calendar.
I've also made a single-sheet calendar with a photo-montage on top and small months on the bottom -- think of those old-fashioned printed cloth calendars found in country kitchens.
Something like that could be printed as a 16x20 or 20x24 (or a skinny panoramic might have interesting design possibilities). |

Gordon mentioned Shutterfly, so I thought I'd give it a try. If the calendars come out as good as they look on screen - it's going to be excellent! I'm giving these to family and friends as well as clients. And, they are on sale right now too - $15.99!
The process is great, and it allows you a lot of customization... I'm impressed so far...

| I've yet to try DPCPrints for a print, but I have used shutterfly a number of times. In the past, I've sent snapbooks as gifts. This fall, I spent about $200 during a sale on prints, and I got a lot of 11x16s, a number of 16x20s, and several 20x30s from my 4 MP prints, uninterpolated, and they came out fantastic. |

The Shutterfly calendars are excellent quality. They are spiral bound and printed on heavy cardstock. I gave them as Christmas presents last year and everyone was very impressed with the quality of the product. They are much thicker than most "store bought" mass-produced calendars you see, and are not "glossy" so they are easy to write on with a variety of writing instruments.
For what it's worth, all of my calendar photos were montages created from multiple photographs. I used a canvas size of 3072 x 2304 and the picture sizes on the calendar itself came out roughly as 9.5"W x 7.25"H. I marked each photo as "do not crop" so Shutterfly wouldn't crop anything.

Thanks for the input Neil and Eddy - I have my calendar all set to order, but their system isn't applying the 20% discount, so I have to wait to hear from Customer Service before hitting the 'place order' button.
I'm pretty excited to receive the calendar and give them out! :-)

The guy I spoke with said they haven't done the price changeover yet in the system, so to check again in about 2-3 hours and the sale price should be there.
Sale goes from 11-25 to 12-2 on Calendars

I made my order for 8 calendars late yesterday afternoon, and this morning I got an email that Shutterfly is shipping them today. WOW
The price has been fixed, so they are $15.99 until 12-2...
I hope to receive these before then so I can order more depending on how they look. (Mainly want to see how the pictures come out on them before ordering for my clients). |
