First off I'm very happy with the score my selective desat got. A few commenter's said they might have preferred the original edit so here it is. My reason for deciding on the desat was because I thought more of you would have thought I'd desaturated the face on the Great Grey and liked it even less. Did I make the right choice?

discuss :)

I prefer the outtake, but I would have thought it was a selective desat as you mentioned.
nice images either way |

I prefer the outtake also, but probably wouldn't have changed my score ... during voting I scored it an 8 ... |

I think that either would have scored within 1/10th of the other, they're both great. I do agree with your reasoning that the outtake might have been construed by some to be a partial desat, too, so yes i think you made the right decision while I prefer the outtake. Congrats by the way. |

For this venue I think you made the right choice going with the full selective desaturation. I agree that in the natural state some may have thought you desaturated the face. In a venue where the majority would know what the owl looks like the natural shot would probably score higher marks. |

Thanks for the comments peeps :) and Michelle, yes, if it was for a bird comp then I'd have left as is.
