just a quick thought (I have a lot of those sometimes)...no reason we can't have a GTG for Billings Estate one weekend, then Vic Island perhaps a little further along, ie early October when all the terrorists err, tourists pack up and go home, so it's not so crowded. And Vic Island would look better in the fall than the Billings Estate would.

Thanks everyone - I think this will be fun. Where is Billings Estate? I've never been.

//www.friendsofbillingsestatemuseum.org/

Near Bank and Riverside. Cross Bank as though heading towards the Riverside Hospital. On the right will be a large open field, and looming high above it will be lovely white house with black trim (it used to be lit up at night too, should still be). That's the Billings Estate.

At the next set of lights, turn right on Pleasant Park. Go up a bit of a steep incline, then take the next right onto Cabot. Go uphill, ignore the turn down to the right (Chalmers Road). Keep going straight, there should be a parking lot to the left, the house is up to the right.

They may let us shoot interiors too; I don't know, it's been years since I've been inside.

I'm up for the Billing Estate - I've never been there. Vic Island later in the fall sounds good, too.

Did we pick a day yet? I'm open either Saturday or Sunday, but it would be nice to firm that up.
Thanks for making the effort to organiza this, Susan.

Aw goshdurnit, you say the nicest things!

Here's how it's looking so far: Billings Estate Museum on Sept 6/7, and Vic Island in October. I should mention that the grounds of the Estate are a popular locale for weddings, so I'll find a phone no and call just to make sure we don't crash a wedding.

In terms of time, how does 11 am sound to everyone?

11 am is fine for me. Also I'm open to starting earlier. Light might be better earlier.
But, if some people are travelling any distance, then perhaps 11 is the best option.

i'd prefer earlier as well / won't get the locals drifting by ;)

anytime that weekend should be good for me. I imagine the earlier we go the less crowds there will be.

Count me in for either September 6 or 7. In the morning is fine for me - 11am or earlier, it doesn't matter. I'll need to figure out how to get there via bus though, because I have no car. :)

I could possibly be there for 10:30 but can't make any promises.

LOL unless there is a wedding (I only got a faxtone on the phone no - I'll look for an email addie) I don't imagine it'll be crowded, so not too many worries there.

Laurie, any bus that goes to Billings Bridge or down Bank - in my day it was the 1 - will get you there. I don't know if there is still a public footpath leading up from Riverside Drive or not...

There is also a bus that goes up Pleasant Park, and a stop on Pleasant Park near Cabot. Just walk up Cabot and follow the directions I posted for drivers.

Closer to the time I'll be giving out my cel no, so if lost you can call me and I can pick you up.

Ok here's the scoop...

September 6: wedding from 1-5, so shoot would either have to be in late morning/early afternoon, or;
September 7: no wedding, we have alllll day to shoot, though probably still a 10:30-ish start time.

BTW they now charge admission to the house, not the grounds. *sigh* Message left me did not say 'no photos indoors' but only mentioned shooting outside.

So let's see what the forecast is, should encompass Sat/Sun and give us a better idea as to what to expect. D'oh! I'm a week early!

Post here to let me know what works best for y'all!

Thanks for the research. I think a morning shoot would be nice. What about the Sunday Sep 7 at 10:30? That way we're not worried about the wedding.

Timmy's on Bank Street on other side of Bank Street Bridge crossing the River, just a block or two south of the Dairy Queen ;-) Don't know about Starbucks, but there is a 2nd Cup or similar in Billings Bride Plaza.
