Well how about you come to our GTG first, then maybe some of us will make it to Montreal?

I don't know if my car can handle the drive to Montreal... ha!
But I'd definitely want to go back there. Last time was to the Biodome.
I'm looking forward to the Ottawa GTG. Never been to this Billings Bridge Estate. I think I know the city but... I really haven't truly explored it as I should have by now.

Hey El-Ghool, if you go to the Community pulldown menu on the toolbar to Photographer Profiles, and enter Montreal in the Location field ...well, you will probably get at least a few names!

Either start a Montreal GTG thread, and/or PM a few Montreal-area dpcers. After the thread is started, as you can see from this one, it's pretty straightforward. Choose a photog-friendly location that's easy to get do, set a date and time, and that's about it.

long range forecast is rain on Saturday/Sunday -left overs from Gustov probably
09/02/2008 07:01:10 AM · #60
Possibly, let's see closer to the time. So long as it's not heavy downpours we should be OK.

Seeing that Gustav has so far fallen short of expectations, I'm not too worried about being rained out.

I might be able to make it over that way on the weekend if I finish the roof I have torn off by then. I'll call some relatives and set up a couch for the weekend just in case. Has anyone tried Ray Either he lives in Ottawa?

Is the October one still in the offing or has it been put asunder?

MAX!

It'd be great to have you join us, Quigley!

LOL funny that you mention Ray Ethier, he's the reason I learned about and joined the site! He was sitting at the public-access internet computer next to mine at the Kemptville library. (So far as I know he still lives out here.) I kept sneaking looks over at these amazing pictures he was looking at. He caught me looking and explained what he was doing (voting) and showed me the site. I wuz hooked and been here ever since!

I did pm him re the last gtg we had but never heard back from him. I'll pm him and see if he's interested.

And yep, to best of my knowledge October GTG still in the works for Victoria Island.

BTW just got off phone...admission to the Billings Estate Museum is $4.50 for adults. We are allowed to shoot indoors, BUT NO FLASHES.

Will still keep an eye on the weather as ummm errrr...apparently there are THREE more hurricanes en route!

Anyone have any good recommendation on camera straps that can be found around Ottawa? Mine just broke and I think i'll need something before the weekend!

I did find the one that came with the camera rather uncomfertable, so maybe it's for the best.

There's a couple of Henry's kicking around, and a few Blacks outlets still, wouldn't they carry camera straps?

And as for admission for our inner child, Quigley...hmm...well if you're accompanied by an adult, I imagine there's a discount :-)

That's great Susan, would you vouch for me?

I might not be able to make it after all, we could be in Toronto filming so that could kill it for my trip out your way. Both good and bad, I guess.

Aww, too bad, and I'd've willingly vouched for you...in exchange for a donation to the fisheye lens account...*evil grin*

Anyhoo now they're saying Sunday's going to be sunny and high of 23. Nice shooting conditions!

Hi all, I'll pm everyone - after seeing what the forecast is for Sunday - with my cell no.

Please use it only to tell me if you're NOT coming, or if you need directions.

Hey, I went to Carleton U.

Could somebody get me a pizza from either Fida's and/or Calabria and mail it to me?

The best pizza ever!

I was thinking of the parking lot, because it's easiest to find. As you approach the end of cabot the house is looming up to the right on a bit of rise, and the parking lot is simply at the end of the asphalt you're driving on to get to the grounds anyway. It isn't humongous like the one at Experimental Farm, so we should be able to find everyone all right. No real courtyard to speak of, cemetery's off a little ways.

Oh, so THAT explains the dream I had last night about some guy in a squirrel suit chomping pizza whilst pelting passerbys with nuts from the top tier of the Car.Let.On. U parking garage...ahh sooo...

Will see if either pizza joint is still around.
