ROFLMAO! Cute Standard poodle, though. Ironically one of my clients - the one with the biggest horses - breeds Standard Poodles too. Sells the puppies for $1500/ea. Hey, she has a black and two whites for sale if anyone is interested...
Oh yeah ...Yo snaffles, checked out the Dutch Warmbloods. They can be huge! Biggish ears yes, but great temperament.
...I know about them DWBs, trust me! The only time I ever got dumped by a horse while at Stevens Creek Farm, it was during the backing process, by a 16:3 hh DWB...who btw was only 3 yrs old at the time, and DWBs tend to keep growing til the age of 7...and yeah Ricaldo had a great temperament, but was also dumb as a box of rocks.
If the name Popeye K means anything to you Cdn horsey people, he was born at this facility, the year before I began working there as barn manager. I backed and started many DWBs while there.

Do what the Brazil, Germany, Ireland and Norway riders did in the Olympics and apply a nice little paste to the horses legs...makes them jump real high...LMAO!!

That is so strange. Capzasin (sp) is derived from the Paprika (if I remember correctly will go check) plant which can sometimes be used to enhance a horses coat color by adding the powder to their feed (gives them a golden glowing appearance and improves the greys too). I know it is an illegal substance now in sports but didnt know that it was used on the horses legs in this manner. What really confuses me is it is also a pain reliever, so how the heck does it make their legs more sensitive and work as a pain killer too??? They used to use the rapping method to make horses jump higher, equally as barbaric, having a person on each side of the pole that the horse is jumping over and as it jumps over the people lift the height of the pole quickly and rap the forelegs with it making the horses jump higher for fear of having sore shins. Geez every sport has it's bad points.
For pics of horses visit my profile, too many to post here LOL and do you know what is crazy, I dont have one horse picture this week yet that I would even consider posting to a challenge!!!!! My horses are all out on pasture so there is no hi-jinks when letting them out of their stalls and they are frisky, it will be ironic if I dont enter this challenge!

Capsicin derived from pepper, but all the same it's a horrible thing to do. (Cool about feeding horses paprika, I'd never encountered that before). I've seen rapping done but never at a barn where I was working.
However, at one hunter/jumper barn where I worked, I was instructed to clip a horse's fetlocks and pasterns (horse equivalent of the human ankle). I thought it was to neaten the horse's appearance, and it is, in part.
But the main reason is so that if the horse hits a rail, it hurts more.
Crap like that is basically why I no longer work for show barns. My private clients value their horses and would sooner lose an arm that do such awful things.

I am so looking forward to voting on this challenge! Here are two of my personal favs from others:
Of course, any horse photo from Lynnesite or Ristyz will most likely end up in my Top 3.
Good Luck Everyone! |

Well, a great landscape trumps everything else around here, and I entered something that is totally my milieu, not necessarily dpc-friendly. We'll see, hope not to disappoint ya. |

Shouldn't that be 'no more WHINNYING from me!'? ;-)
Got some terrific shots today at a barn, but sad to say the rider didn't want any pics posted on the internet *sigh* Oh well, at least it gave me a good chance to shoot a moving subject, indoors, on a cloudy day.
