I appreciate all comments I get - short, long, liked it, didn't like it, numerical, constructive. All good. (Well, there's the "l", the "G", and something to do with bacteria, but that's neither here nor there.) Some comments really make my day. I figure I'm not the only one. So much like Sherpet's thread honoring a photographer of the week, this thread is here to honor a particular comment and commenter.

My contribution for this week is on my knowingly ill-fated (but OOBIE-winning!) shot from the Sugar challenge:

Hard to say what I like most. (Totally tickled at an oobie photo being so full of boxes). I love the totally unLadyGodivalike figure in her flat shoes right under the lit Godiva sign. Trudging. And why should you be there at that moment? Floriat mysterium. (May have made that up, may be ungrammatical, but ooboesque). from tnun (who routinely gives excellent comments, by the way.)
Thank you kindly!

I've always liked the comment I got from Gordon on this picture, and his unique way of describing what I considered a mistake in the photo. I mention in the notes that I'd moved furniture around the night before for a different shoot, and he supplied an apropos quote from a great photographer.

"Very clean lines and great light. I didn't even notice the baseboard lobotomy until you pointed it out in your comments.
Photography is 1% inspiration and 99% moving furniture - Arnold Newman"

Comment by MelonMusketeer for this recent image.

Shez, You find some of the most interesting little spots of color and shape, and you get the pics from a POV that most people would not think about

My first challenge entry and Townleyand I drove forever asking each other "does anything strike you as "brown"? My ideas clashed with hers, then we saw this barn and I entered it...

Comment by James:
Beings you want to enter challenges and learn from that I chose this image to comment on. First your image is very small as I am sure you got tons of comments on. I amnot sure what you are editing with but this might help: //www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=26

Also remember this is an art site. So you need to seek out interesting perspectives and stuff that shows off the beauty of your subject, beauty is found in everything. Even if it is just a barn take the time to walk around it, get low, get high, try different angles and see what you can come up with.

I thought that was very nice of him to recognize my mistake and offer so much above and beyond what others offered.

From Yospiff: One of the more serious shots in this challenge. Made me pause.

That's what I was hoping for, and I'm grateful he did.

Melethia, I am honoured. (I've had very few comments and submissions recently, but I've had many in the past that meant a great deal and some that truly made/saved my day. As well, I like the quirky ones, and had one not too long ago that nearly knocked my socks off in the July FS. May I post it?) BTW, I think I meant to write "oobiesque."

My all time favorite comment was made by Kwilson10 on this relatively low scoring entry of mine in "Peace":

He said: "This photo kind of angers me, but i love how it was taken. The reflection in the screen is awesome. Great job."

What I love about this comment was not that he liked it, but that it angered him. That told me that even though he did not agree with the point I was making, I got my message across clearly. (I also got a posthumous yellow on this, so it was a very successful 4.6 for me.)

Almost every comment on here inspired me to get off my butt and pursue my hobby as my job. I'm shooting my first wedding in gosh two weeks.... I have also been shooting seniors for free this year to build up a portfolio for next year.

Well I wasn't sure if this was for favorite comment made this week or ever, but I found one of the latter for now, since we're getting started ...

I think the most consistently "outstanding" comments I get are from Don ( posthumous), and it was he who first called attention to this (otherwise unpopular) image with one of his first threads to call out images he felt (I think) were overlooked or misunderstood by the voters as a whole.

I think it's still one of my favorite entries, partly because it sparked some discussion, and for getting a comment like this:

last walk

Blackbox commented:

I hope you mean - last walk of the evening. If so, I like it. If not, I hate it. Maybe that guy is holding a shotgun behind his back? It's a good photo but no, I don't like it now. It's just to weird for me. That dog looks like he knows something bad is going to happen. No, I don't like it one bit. Please tell me I'm wrong...

I love this Comment from aliqui

'Something about this makes me want to curl up inside the flower and take a nap. A very soothing abstract.'

This one made me smile.....
