Congrats, Jeanne! I look forward to seeing the new you. |
Me too! Glad to see so much good news on the thread...losing weight, getting good scores and faves during voting, getting a gov't-sponsored education on running your own business...
Here's a couple of pix of Lily, one of her with Druli:
She doesn't yet know how to stay still (or almost still) for pix so I had to set the ISO quite high...and yes, she is also a bluepoint Birman, only difference between her and Druli (apart from sheer size, lol) is that Lily has a *pedigree* and Druli doesn't...so she is definitely purebred, from show stock (though I don't know if her kittens were of show quality) and he is of unproven lineage.
Not that having papers or regal bloodlines is really important! But I know now why breeding females are called queens...she is very aware of how special she is :-) And tonight she and Druli are more or less bonding, cause there's a lot of lightning and thunder outside tonight, and both are taking shelter under my bed. Will be interesting to see if her coat also darkens a bit with age as his has.

Hey, just wanted to post this up with a request for y'all to tell me what you think.
I really feel that I've learned an awful lot about photography here, and I'm very pleased with the techniques that I used, all of which were learned here, right down to composition.
This is a lovely house in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, a few doors down from a friend of mine. It was a beautiful spring evening and the light, the tree, and the beauty of this restored house just spoke to me.

UPDATE UPDATE
TJ (eldest son) just called. The police notified him that they found his stolen car (a few blocks away from where he lives in Georgetown). He knows very little ... the stereo is gone, the hockey equipment was still in the car when it was found (happy happy boy with that news), and that's all he knows. He does not know if it still has wheels, or anything else.
Now he needs to see how bad the damage is. And probably get a really good alarm system, or some other solution.

I told my husband that he's got a new woman to hassle him. He came home and walked around me about three times and then stared at the TV set for about 5 hours. I guess even with those changes it just isn't that exciting.
And then we got a call from our eldest son, he was not having a good day. For the second time since moving to the DC-area his car has been stolen. Last time it was actually found and repaired (lots of repair). This time I don't think he'll be that lucky this time. Gut tells me it is gone for good this time!
BTW, I got a much better reaction to the new style at work. |

That's good news! Now he needs to rent one of those boots the city puts on cars for parking violations. Or LowJack might be a good idea. When my brother's car was stolen (and never ever seen again - he'd had it for two whole months, I might add), the police surmised that they simply put it in a truck and drove it off. |

LOL that they didn't take the hockey equipment...up here, they'd've left everything else and taken only the hockey gear!!! Hope it's not been chop-shopped by the time he gets it back. |

Truth be told that was what he was most worried about ... the hockey stuff. He's missed two games ... and that is bugging him big time. Thanks for the concern Deb and Susan.

Good to hear! I always liked James Bond's system, where if you turn the key the wrong way, the car blows up. ;)

I feel kinda bad that we haven't had any OObies lately, so I think I'll submit a potential candidate into one of the open challenges. :-)

Let's have a little rant about oobies and dnmcs - I've been getting the weirdest comments in the boats challenge, none of which I reproduce here, but most of which run along the - er - lines of...
Is that a boat?
Although you do have a number of boats in the frame ...
The main subject is not a boat...
I'm not entirely sure that the thing between the boats on the side is a boat or maybe it is supposed to look like a boat but because it grabs so much attention and is not absolutely definitely a boat unless, of course it is a boat, then I shall have to give you less points...
The poor dears could have stuff for a comedy routine if only they could hear themselves... |

At least you didn't get the deathless 'I only seen one boat' comment...maybe you're being dpcpunk'd? |

Heh! Does that work? I am slowly making my way through FS but probably won't comment on all of 'em. Will try to do at least 10%, though. Nice run of scores there! I'm looking forward to seeing which portrait is yours.

What quilt, Jeanne?
I have fabric I bought over a year ago, still sitting in the little bags it came in.... But I have good intentions! |

While he was only known to me, we lost another DPC'er last month as well. His real name was Dave Ashton and I worked with him when I lived in San Antonio. At a meeting we attended together, we discovered to our delight that there was a live wireless link in the room. So I, naturally, was checking DPC. He was watching over my shoulder. Dave attacked everything with delight and full-on intent, and decided he'd enter a challenge. He did - just one. But he enjoyed seeing what DPC had to offer. I got an email from him just about a month ago - he said he was planning on going whole-hog and getting a dSLR soon. He was amazingly brilliant, a dedicated family man, a great friend, and a very good man to work with. He apparently died of a heart attack in his sleep. I think he was only 61. He was in perfect health, had been on a 30 mile bike ride that day as part of his goal of getting in 3000 miles this year. I hope he's getting in some good riding where he is now. He'll be terribly missed. |
