Ya know, when I started out on this site shortly after picking up a camera 3 1/2 years ago, I knew there was something special about the DPC community. There are so many talented, skilled, and generous individuals on here. People who share their time, knowledge, and editing tips - of course a few laughs as well (for no other reason than to give a boost to someone who is learning and trying to improve).

Well here's another story about one of the best members of this community...

Many DPC members have been very supportive and encouraging since I began here, and CEJ (Chris) is certainly one of them. But he made my day/week/month yesterday by out-of-the-blue offering to give me his old 20D. I nearly fainted. He said he doesn't use it anymore and couldn't think of a better use for it. I'm opening my own studio/gallery on June 13 and things have been a little tight, but I'm doing what I LOVE and I will make it work. So I will put it to good use Chris!

Chris is exactly the type of person that has kept me coming back to DPC (and no, not because he'll give away presents - because he is generous and goes out of his way to recognize and encourage new talent). His Gum Drops shot below was an inspiration to me early on. It’s so wonderfully whimsicalâ€Â¦

Anyway, I just want to send out a BIG BIG THANK YOU to CEJ!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!

<--- Smiling BIG time!

That's awesome!! That's no ordinary 20D now. Every picture taken with it will now be part of a generous gift. Enjoy!

Hey Chris, would you happen to have a Canon 600mm lens that you're not using? :)

Seriously, that was a very classy thing to do, and I'm sure that Jimmy will put it to good use.

Made my night hearing about this generous gift. I'm sure that camera is going to a great home. Jimmy, I can't wait to see how you put it to use! That is really wonderful.

It's a good day at DPChallenge.
I got started in digital photography when one of my friends bought me a new Sony Handicam in 1999 because they knew that I was going to London to be in an episode of Junk Yard Wars, the TV program. I have not forgotten that act, and it still shapes the way I see my photography and the way I like to share the results.
Good luck with the new studio, and with the 20D.

Congrats Jimmy! and what a gesture, Chris! Make sure he remembers who you are when his gallery takes off and he is up to his eyeballs in the high-folutin world of fine art with his fancy cocktail parties, celebrity hosts and such and he no longer has any time or need for DPC. ;-) Best of luck to you Jimmy!

Can someone near where Jimmy is located please drive around the area and make sure there is not some raving lunatic running around shooting everything in sight? I mean with a camera of course!

Glad you received it. Will be looking for an update of some sort or another...like America is waiting (obscure reference to Eno/Byrne).

Enjoy!
