How are your 2008 DPC goals going?

After taking most of 2007 off I returned to the DPC fold refreshed and set what I thought were decent goals. I've already crossed off 3 of the 6 I set (even set a new one and stretched myself on another).

How are all your dpc goals/targets coming along?

1) score no less then 4.9xxx on every challenge I enter this year (gotta start somewhere...lol)
2) Get a ribbon (any ribbon but brown that is)
3) ~~Reach 100 comments made~~
4) ~~Reaach 300 comments made~~ - - Feb 13th, 2008
5) ~~change that damn stupid pic of me!!! (what the heck was I thinking putting that up!)~~
6) Become a much better photographer... I hope
7) Raise my average to 5.0 (yes I have a long way to go)
8) reach 500 comments made 483 so far
9) finish every side challenge I join this year

Copied straight off my profile page:

Get a ribbon. Not yet.
Get in the top ten on a challenge Closest so far is my panning entry - 11th place
Make breaking 6 more of a habit than a fluke - do it three times by end of 2008. Once so far
Beat 6.3 on a shot. Best is 6.2583
Get my average score above 5.3 5.2281 as at 21/4/08
Have my average of shots in 2008 be 5.5 or more Will work out where I stand on that at end April
Get 5 PBs this year Three so far: 5.8741(PB from 2007) -> 5.8830 -> 5.9895 -> 6.2583
Have my top 5 shots above 5.9 all 5.8765 or more

I did say I'd work out how my average for the year is doing at the end of March but not done it yet (I suspect it's going well)

I've got a bit of a dilemma - do I count my 2007-12 Free Study and my Best of 2007 shot in my averages for 2008 photos? Both were shot last year but voted upon this year.

Edited to bring my figures up to date.

I had goals for the year but I met them all by the end of March or so. Maybe I need to come up with new ones.

I've only been here 10 weeks and have already met 2 of my goals.

A top 10 finish
Have my top 5 photos all be over 6.0

I'm hopeful my Odd entry will get me that elusive 7+ score.

2008 DPC GOALS
Get my average back to over 5.5, and keep it there(1/1/08 = 5.47xx)
Get challenges entered to 500 (1/1/08 = 334)
Get comments made to 10,000 (1/1/08 = 7339)
Get votes cast to 50,000 (1/1/08 = 36,108)
Give BAMartin a run for her money in the Great '08 Motivate Debate (on hold now due to "stuff")

2008 REAL LIFE GOALS
Take a portrait of my son and daughter every month (so far, so good)
Put my twelve favorite songs to PICTURES
Figure out how to make some money at this game
Upgrade to a 40D or Mark series
Buy a 70-200L
Take my family to DisneyWorld
Lose 60 pounds and do a self-portrait (15 down!)

I'm thinking of changing one of the goals though. In my run to get to 500 challenges, I've entered a bunch of "trash" just to enter. I'm thinking of becoming a bit more selective. Might help the average goal, ya know?

So, a little over halfway through the year, how are we all doing with our 2008 dpc goals?

To do in 2008...

~~Have three 2008 submissions in my top 10~~ ~ Bubo scandiacus ~ Eye Spy Lunch ~ Amorphous ~ A light draft ~ Green Shot ~ ~~Sage~~
~~Give more votes than received (3k to make up)~~ 20th Feb
~~End the year with a 5.75 average ~ started 5.6732~~ 19/04/2008
~~End the year with a 5.7732 ~ a full tenth increase~~ 17/07/2008
Use all of my lenses in a submission (or sell it) Just my Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro MF to use!
Reach 75 challenges ~ was 51 in 47 months
Monitor my 2008 scores and average 6+ (18 challenges and 6.1117)

Just need a macro challenge and I should be home and dry :)

DPC Goals
Since I figured out the template to winning or coming real close every time, the appeal of these challenges have dimished greatly for me. So my goals this year was to just finish up the type of challenges I haven't won yet such as:

~~Free study~~ - 1st place in the May Free Study
Minimal Editing Challenge
Expert Editing Challenge
Speed Challenge

Real Life Photography Goals

Take photography more seriously - Started.
Start getting paying gigs - So far so good.

I have copied my list below, I am not doing to bad I think, I have completed 3 of the 8 this far and I am close to having one or 2 of the others completed. Hopefully I will have them mostly complete by the end of the year.

My goals for DPC for the year 2008 (Updated 1/10/2008)

1) Recieve a score higher than 6.50 in a challenge Complete Pet Portrait III
2) Get a photo into the top 10 in a challenge Complete Pet Portrait III
3) Get a ribbon!!!!! (this was a stetch but hey some fluke could happen)
4) To have 18 People choose me as a favorite photographer (17 at present)
5) To have 45 People choose my photos as favorites (40 at present)
6) To have one of my photos have 2 or more favorites during a challenge (never had this happen)
7) Get a Oobie or a Yappie from Team Suck (been trying for the yappie, just havent hit it yet)
8) Improve my average from a 5.13 to a 5.3 ish Complete, now just maintain and go higher
9) NEW GOAL- To Maximize the use of the generosity L1's has given to me.
