My first ever Eagle shot and do hope its not seen as 'cliche' here at DPC. Am hoping this does well, lowest score accepted will be 6.2875 to get in 'my' top ten though I'd really like to see it in my top 5 and, shall be dreaming of that elusive 7 score (probably until I get up after the voting starts lol.

Played with several crops but in the end went for a simple portrait shot - hope you like.

Converted from RAW
Auto levels (reduced by 50%)
hope the eye doesn't look too false? Quickmasked and played with colour balance sliders
Boosted contrast
Sharpened image at full size
Resized then Neatimaged erasing from the beak/cheek/eye.

Andi - the eye looks a little crazy - but apart from that , quite magnificent.

Good shot - good result.

Good job Andi - grats on the decent score and top 20. FWIW there's some entries up there above you that I'm surprised scored as highly as they did in a FS. Where did you shoot this?

Congratulations Andi! As Jeffrey says Top 20 in a free study is fantastic! I loved this shot from the first time you showed me it. IMHO it's not your 'usual' view of an Eagle and the composition is excellent, I'm glad you went with this version. The colours and detail are excellent and I love that eye! Great to see this in your Top 3, thats one thing off your 'To Do' list, next shot I'm sure you'll get that 7 you are dreaming of ;o) XxX
