Now that I have bought my new cam (Canon 300D), it's time to think about filters. I'm keen on a IR filter, as I really like the effect it can give. I'm also thinking about a polarizer. I used to use this filter alot on my trad SLR (Ae-1), but got horrible results when I tried it on my Fuji 602Z. I believe it is because it was a non-circular polarizer.
Here's my question: will I get the same results if I try it on a DSLR? Do I need to get a circular polarizer or should a regular one work?
Any help would be great.

I have both types of polarizers. The key thing to remember with a polarizer is that you may need to adjust it after you focus if the end of your lens rotates during the focus process.

| I read a lot of articles on the internet before deciding to pop for a cirular polarizer. My understanding is that it is required to get the proper polarizing effect when using a camera with throuth-the-lens auto-focus and/or metering. You can vary the effect by turning the filter just like with an older non-circular polarizer filter. I haven't mastered it's use yet but it does improve my bright sunlight shots. |

| No idea how well the 300D will do for IR shots - I know that the D60 and 10D have a hot mirror that essentially make them useless for IR photography. |

Thanks you all. I'll give mine a try before I go out and get a new one.
