i want to record this now, 'cause i know that when the rest of voters get at it, it'll plummet.
From the first Monty Python's Flying Circus episode.
Flying Sheep
(A tourist approaches a shepherd. The sounds of sheep and the outdoors
are heard.)
Tourist: Good afternoon.
Shepherd: Eh, 'tis that.
Tourist: You here on holiday?
Shepherd: Nope, I live 'ere.
Tourist: Oh, good for you. Uh...those ARE sheep aren't they?
Shepherd: Yeh.
Tourist: Hmm, thought they were. Only, what are they doing up in the
trees?
Shepherd: A fair question and one that in recent weeks 'as been much on
my mind. It's my considered opinion that they're nestin'.
Tourist: Nesting?
Shepherd: Aye.
Tourist: Like birds?
Shepherd: Exactly. It's my belief that these sheep are laborin' under
the misapprehension that they're birds. Observe their be'avior.
Take for a start the sheeps' tendency to 'op about the field
on their 'ind legs. Now witness their attempts to fly from
tree to tree. Notice that they do not so much fly as...plummet...

So much here . . .
Robert ( bear_music), there are no obligations here that intrude upon family, or life. We're thinking about you in what must be a difficult time.
Dave, we're thinking of you, too. What you're going through must be one of life's most significant trials.
Brian, Godspeed. Come back healthy.
For those who wish to see some suckers, quite a few of us are in pics in the London GTG (from yesterday) photos thread.

Seems that some of the Team Suck members are being put through a pretty turbulent time at the moment - my best wishes to you all; the joy of this thread is that it is a haven you can return to when you need a little sanity light relief, friendliness and support.
I have had the honour of having Melethia to stay for a couple of nights - she is a wonderful guest, and I am certainly looking forward to a return visit from her when she has more time to spend in England; I didn't need to work too hard to persuade her that Yorkshire really is God's own county! |

i'm sooooooo envious of everyone at the london gtg.
kelli, i just stumbled over your grumpy friend portraits, and gave one a shot. i know it's been a while, and you've probably solved it, but i tried portrait professional 6, and it worked quiet well:

Sounds and looks like London GTG was a blast despite the rain...
Meanwhile over at Planet Snaffles, cannot for the life of me get inspired by Fences or Environment. Mug Shot does sound promising though, now if I can just find a human to model for me so I don't have to shoot myself... |

Susan, it was a good GTG, I guess we had at least 30 people there. It rained, the wind blew and we all had a good time. There were a few funny events and a lot of really great photos. I had a great time and it was capped with a flight on the London Eye, a truly amazing piece of engineering!! Anyone in London has to go on it!!
For the first time, I shot everything in RAW, and the detail is awesome. I was confused cos I changed settings to Monochrome for a few, yet when I viewed them in Lightroom, they were all in colour. I guess I have a lot to learn still:)

I forced myself to go out and shoot for fences today, and luckily got a few shots in before the stupid snow started again. All the good, unique fences are of course hidden under several feet of freaking snow, so it limited the choices. All in all I think I got something half decent, which usually means in the mid 5's.
I briefly considered going for an oobie or a posthumous by taking a photo of the guy behind the counter at our local "hock shop" buy and sell type place as a different kind of "fence". ;) However since I knew it would bomb, and I have a certain responsibility as part of Team Canada in the DPC Olympics, I stayed inside the box. It was really tempting though.

I'm in Fences. It'll probably tank, but I'm very happy with my image.....I've already printed an 8X10 and am contemplating a large version. Some of my more sedate stuff has been appealing to me on some different levels. I dunno how this looks to you guys, but I really liked it, so I blew it up to 24X30 and brought it home after getting it laminated onto a foamboard. My wife and daughter seemed completely ambivalent about it so I just left it standing on the chair in the dining room. By the end of the next day, they wanted it framed and hanging above the couch in the living room 'cause they liked the peacefulness of it. I took it to my gallery friends, they framed it, and now they want me to leave it there for a while because THEY like it and want people to see it.

Funny, huh?
