Day 19
01/19/2008 12:03:29 PM · #627

hey all! made it w/no problems, except for the driving blizzard which accompanied me on my drive t here the other night...happy to have made it!!

This is the hospital where I will be working the next 2 weeks, starting tomorrow. The light here in early morn and at night is gorgeous, and the sky so BIG!!! They actually have a few stray buffalo which roam the grounds here. I am living right on the compound, the hospital is literally across thhe way so getting back & forth is easy (and invigorating! :)

I'mm off to Rushmore & Crazy Horse today, with hopes of catching some great vistas of American icons. I am getting to commenting as I can, will no doubt catch up once I am working, as I will be unable to leave the reservation then, due to call responsibilities.

Stay warm!

I am putting up two photos for the 18th since I headed West for the day in order to warm up a bit. The contrast of the North side where I live to the West side is amazing, lush to dry.

Trying to get a view of the highway out west that has a long stretch that is straight and has a lot of utility poles.

The sunset on the West side in Kekaha.

I know I don't live in Keokuk, but that's where I spent my day 19. We're in the same county, so I figure it's close enough.

Here's one of the eagels I got today. Not as good as I would have liked it, but it was -10 degrees and I wasn't about to stick around too long to try and get many more shots. I have a funny feeling the cold had something to do with the weirdness of the shot. Kind of like in the heat when it looks like there are wavy lines on the horizon.

Went up to London today, to the Natural History Museum. I rather like the pseudo-Escher look to this, myself.

Every January, our local camera club rounds up a couple rooms at the library and sets up two or three "studios" complete with lights, and we spend 4-6 hours shooting volunteer models. This lovely young woman just showed up out of nowhere, and she and I just kind of hit it off, so I rattled off a bunch of shots of her. Here's two I liked.

I have over 300 shots from today....some of my gorgeous kid, but I'll have to get to them later.

Today I want to show the diversity of Kaua`i's North shore vs the West shore yesterday. I took the liberty to post 3 images today and please only comment if yo want to.

Day 20 -

I see I'll have lots of commenting to catch up on; I'm off to go hiking in a park I haven't been to in years and it's not even supposed to warm up to freezing temps today. Once I thaw out this evening I'll get to work!
